I just noticed this on the list of Yahoo! movies. Gawd x_x; Is Anderson gonna on any other game franchises? (Probably not a question I want answered)

Cast: None announced yet.

Director: Paul W.S. Anderson (Alien vs Predator, Resident Evil: Apocalypse; also has a remake of Death Race 2000 in development)

Screenwriter: Paul W.S. Anderson

Based Upon: This movie is inspired by the long-running series of videogames published by Konami, about the adventures of various members of the Belmont family, and their efforts to destroy Dracula, and other vampires, mostly set in 19th century Europe. 2006 marks the 20th anniversary of the series. The game series was, of course, also itself "inspired" by the character of Dracula as created by Bram Stoker.

Premise: As a powerful vampire named Dracula comes to power, a family of vampire hunters called the Belmont Clan emerges to defeat him and his evil hordes, led by silver-haired, whip-wielding Simon Belmont.

Setting Notes: (12/5/05) It should be interesting to see if writer/director Paul W.S. Anderson chooses to keep the movie's setting in 19th century Europe as (most, but not all, admittedly) of the video games have been set, or if he will adapt to the modern 21st century.

Filming: (12/5/05) Production is scheduled to start on this project in mid-2006.

What's the problem here? Do you even know anything about the movie yet?

The problem is Anderson's on it. I don't have to know anything. I've yet to really like any of his movies. If he were to just direct it wouldn't be so bad. But he's the writer, and the stories he comes up with are so bogus and wretched.

No we will weep now, the crap that he turned AVP into and the near crap that he turned RE into (some good moments) cannot be ignored, how does he keep getting work? If he smurfs up Castlevania their will be hell to pay, not that I have any power to do anything.

That's what I was thinking.

Hopefully it won't suck, but it probably will.

Why make a movie out of a game that shouldnt even work as a movie....?

Let's just hope he's a person that gets better with experience.

I'll admit Anderson can make things interesting in some demented way. Which is why I wouldn't mind so much if he were just a director. His films have an appreciable dark and moody atmosphere. But his story-writing still sucks >.<

REA wasnt that bad IMO, I think my £3.99 was well spent on the tickets.

What other movies has he been involved with, besides Resident Evil: Apocalypse, which hasn't been said to be that bad, and the movie based on a video game that was based on two different moves Alien vs Predator?

Mortal Kombat was good, annihilation was terrible. Everything else on his list were terrible, except maybe REA it wasnt bad just alittle cheesy in the end.

i looked at the wiki bio of him, and how does he keep getting work?

I'll admit I liked Resident Evil. But that's only because I didn't enjoy the games. The plot only paid attention to the games in the vaguest degree. Resident Evil: Apocalypse however barely had any plot. Its only purpose was to turn his wife (or at least I've been told he's married to Milla) into a mass-murdering goddess, and get her naked on screen. And I'm not even going to get into AvP, 'cause I don't know anyone who likes that, so I'd only be preaching to the choir. It's a little late to hold Mortal Kombat against him... But meh...

I'll also admit I haven't seen everything he's worked on. But I don't know why I should want to as I only enjoyed one of his movies that I have seen

The guy who did Blade 2 and Hellboy would be perfect. Both very good action movies.

I wouldnt mind seeing a movie based minutely on Castlevania.
