Posted at FinalFantasyXii.org and translated to English reads..
- The FF12 Production Committee has finally completed their work on the game.
- The game will DEFINITELY meet the release date this time.
- The movies in the game do not have a skip function.
- Within the game the movies can go up to 17 mins long.
- Save points are scarce, but exist.
- There is a continue function.
- There are minigames.
"Save points are scare, but exist"? What exactly does that imply?
Yeah, I read on Square's official site that the confirmed release date for Japan is March 16th. That makes me very happy for Japan, because unlike us, they aren't still waiting on Advent Children, and got it on the confirmed release date of September 13th, 2005, and thus hearing this is reason for them to get their hopes up.
I'm guessing we'll get it sometime in the twilight days of the PS2.

save points are scarce but exist is probly like on FFX or most of the others where there arent many save points and you find one every 30-60 minutes or so.

Whoa, whoa whoa, There never has been a skip function during FMVs and whats this about save points? Does Square want you to hate this game? I mean, first chacobos with a time limit and now hardly any save points? What if your copy freezes and the last save was like 2 hours back? This is geting stupid, but I'm still buying it, if only for the airship. Oh, has there been anything on that?

I think what they mean is that if you lose in a battle, you get to continue from that point where you died. But I could be wrong

my guess is its either NGP or its like the end of FFTA. and also awesomeman there was a FMV skip function in FFX-2.

No, there wasn't. There were in-game cutscenes that you could skip by pausing and then pressing Select + Square. You couldn't skip any of the FMVs.
Ouch!

I'm going to assume that the continue function does, indeed, mean that you can pick up very close to where you were before you died. If save points are terribly scarce, this will definitely be a good thing.

Square has not release any information for its US release yet.
FFX-2 was released in March 2003 in Japan then November 2003 in America. I sure hope it won't be the same with FF12, we've waited long enough!

I think they mean cut-scenes in general. Like X-2.
Edit: Just me, or does that source not even work?

Yeah, you press pause and then the Square button.
For some reason, when you do that, it doesn't allow you to receive the % gain.

Then why is going to be relesed later this year?
I wonder if you can save anywhere outside of a town or dungeon. Maybe they just mean save points are scarce within a mission or something.

"continue function" almost certainly means the ability to continue right where you died, like in fighting/action games.

Continue functions do not actually mean you start where you die. I think it means the start of a dungeon or some type of check point.
Ouch!

I'm thinking it will be very similar to the continue function in Kingdom Hearts. It usually picked up right as you entered a different room/area before you died. You never lost more than a couple minutes of gameplay unless you died during a boss battle and had to wade through the scenes before it for a while. Granted the areas in Kingdom Hearts were infinitely smaller than they appear to be in FFXII, but I highly doubt that you'll lose lots of gameplay.

If there are continue points, save points being scarce isnt bad at all.

EU got it in Feb the next year !
Sorry, its just when I hear an American complain about waiting, just gets to me.
