I see that on a few of my usernotes and PM's when I talk to people. What mod is doing this?

Make a thread asking the refiltering of "lol" and "O rly", simple as, don't ask random questions make the thread! do it! go on, you know you want to, it's in your blood to make it.

The filter was actually funny and random when it was on but the filter dudes shut it off sadly.

It stands to be pointed out at this point that a brief google search has demonstrated to me that this is a blatant rip-off of Penny Arcade (http://www.penny-arcade.com/2005/07/06). But whatever floats your boat.

If there are any friendly mods out there (I know you guys are a dying breed, but I'm sure there's one or two left), please edit my old post to include a link, so that I may mock this creature, as is the custom of these forums.

What's the difference between "rip-off," "reference," and "homage"?

I personally think we need to go back to the filter.

That filter is still around.

Rip-off is when you don't quote the source, reference is when you do, and homage is when you're famous enough to get away with the former.

"I cried aloud with merth and merriment," (Annarchy, 2005).

Fix it or be expelled from school for plagarisms!

I thought it was still active... there's a noob running around that likes to "lol" every other word, and now her posts are littered with "I cried aloud"s

Leeza

It was reactivated for a while because one noob was driving us crazy with the LOLs. Personally I would like to just ban anyone who ever uses it.

Odd, when I preview one of my own posts with the word "lol," it doesn't seem to take effect. Maybe it's only present in the EoFF 2005 style set?

Clout?

Is that you crono_logical?

It's lol in the EoFF 2005 as well as the Classic. No filter.

The Man

Weird. From the context in which it's being used, though, it does seem to take effect in certain members' posts where I doubt they intended to use it. Maybe it's a new feature of vB3.5 I'm not aware of?

Leeza
02-04-2006, 06:17 AM
I might have missed something, but it's possible that this feature is offered only to a chosen few. :cat:

for the title of the thread, don't u mean mirth? not merith. anyways, the first i saw this was on Flying Mullet's sig. then i saw ppl starting to actually say it in their posts. i think it is the long way of saying lol.

I don't know why. But I don't really mind seeing it in lowercase. But in caps it seems so obnoxious and juvinile. Such a weird hypocracy inside me

Edit: And Im guessing it has been slapped on certain members..
