The first time I fought Wily off a rom was the happiest yet most frustrating day of my life. God he's hard in Megaman 7. Not like Megaman 4 where the Robot Masters's stage were more of a challenge than Wily.

yeah, Goht was fun. I also liked Griever in FFVIII. Most likely because that is where I first witnessed the power that is Lionheart. hm.....Crazy Hand in SSBM, if that counts, was fun, too.

Where'd you get the Colossi names? :o

edit: I think the Ace of Spades mission in Mercenaries should get some credit here. It's not a boss fight in the traditional sense, though, so maybe not. Meh.

The Colossi names were featured in a Japanese magazine called Dengeki a while back.

Taimet (I think thats the name) from Xenosaga Episode 1.
He took me like 3 hours to beat. I LOVE when games challenge me like that.

Include all of the Castlevania bosses mentioned above:

The Fury - Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
Marching Milde - Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Luca Blight - Suikoden II
Lezard Valeth - Valkyrie Profile
Evil Mani-Mani - Earthbound
Algus Sadalfas - Final Fantasy Tactics
Salazar - Resident Evil 4
Farah Oersted, Meredy, and Garr - Tales of Symphonia
Lenneth Valkyrie - Star Ocean: Till the End of Time
Doopliss - Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
Ocelot - Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

My SotN knowledge is a bit rusty, but I thought the fight in the Inverted Colosseum was against Trevor Fake, Sypha Fake, and Grant Fake. I'm probably wrong though.

Kawaii Ryűkishi

Trevor's name in the Japanese games is Ralph. I just like it better like that.

Battling FFIX's Ozma at level one is incredibly fun. The Oilboils from FFVIII are also fun when attemtping a no stat junction, no summon, no magic, low level challenge.

Every time I fight Magus in Chrono Trigger I get goosebumps. Well, metaphorically.

From the Castlevania games, I would say Death from SoTN is my favorite.

Metal Gear has great boss battles, but Psycho Mantis and The End were the most memorable. 'I see you like to play Castlevania!' Classic. And The End took like 2 hours to beat.

From FF I have to go with:
IV - Bahamut
IV - The Four Fiends
V - Gilgamesh
V - Shinryuu
VI - Wrexsoul
VI - Kefka
VI - Phantom Train
VII - Ruby Weapon
VII - Reno, Rude, & Elena
VIII - Diablos
IX - Trance Kuja
X - Yunalesca
X - Nemesis
Tactics - Weigraf
Tactics - Gafgarion
X-2 - Trema

The only battle that competes with them is the final Boss(es) in Alundra ;)

1. Sephiroth from FF7. The music just added to the excitement!
2. Gannon from the original Zelda. Only game where I actually jumped up and down after beating the final boss.

Vs. Amon from Shadow Hearts: Coventant
If anything else, it's because the song reminded me of "Stairway to Heaven"

Vs. Nevan from Devil May Cry 3
WHEW! Topless Red Head, YEA! Yea!...yeOH CRAP BATS!

Vs. Magus from Chrono Trigger
What good is a list without Magus

Vs. The Trio from Baten Kaitos (Names cut for spoiler)
Some boss fights are naturally hard, some boss fights are naturally easy. This is the hardest boss fight to catagerize in difficulty. It's just balanced. You have a kick-ass attacker on both sides (Kalas/Blue Guy), balanced fighter/mage type (Lyude/Scythe Dude) and fast, but kinda weak (Sylvia/Girl).

Vs. Mewtwo from Pokémon R/B
You have to admit that the first time you went up against Mewtwo it was epic. Boss fights in Pokémon are difficult for the main reason that they CAN NOT be defeated or the purpose is lost, but they must be weaken. In this case EXTREAMLY weakened. To make it worse, he had a defense ability (Barrier) and a restoritive ability (Recover). This was a battle of luck. You can hope he gets froven with Ice Beam and just wittle his HP down or you can put him to sleep and pray he doesn't wake up. Or you could throw a Master Ball at him. Eather strategy works.

Those are my top five boss fights.

My FUNNIEST boss fights so far have probably been the ones in Yoshi's Island, such as the giant turtle. Maybe they're not the best, but sure they were the funniest!

Yeah man, there are some classics mentioned in here :greenie:

All forms of ridley were fun as hell (basic, neo and mecha) and kraid obviously.

Metal sonic from sonic cd, knuckles from s&k and the final bosses from sonic3 plus knuckles.

U.Rugal and S.akuma from capcom snk are mean machines, love em. Bison from SFA3 was awesome too.

From the final fantasy series i pretty much loved to fight anything that was a summon. Bahamut being the best in most cases.
All time favorite FF bosses are shinryu omega and neo x-death, for supreme awesomeness and Gilgamesh obviously for being damn right cool. Other memorable fights include Necrophobe, Atamos, archeoavis from FFV, cerberas, omega weapon and griever from FFVIII and emerald from FFVII.

Mentioned somewhere above is Mewtwo. I usually catch him pretty quick with ultra balls and once (hell yeah) i caught him with a single ultra ball (fire red version) But the legendary birds were fantastic fights and especially the legendary dogs. Not to mention lugia.

The nemesis from resy evil 3 absolute owns too.

The best goes to the colossi in Shadow of the Colossus (every single one of them). Aside from that though, every boss in MGS3 would rank as perhaps my favorites over any other games bosses. In particular the fight with the Boss. It just felt absolutely perfect.

the end (MGS3)
the boss(MGS3)
Soilidus(MGS2)
Pyshco mantis(MGS)

Sephiroth(FF7)
nemesis(RE3 and FFX)
omega weapon(FF8)
Whatever the last boss was from(Doom3)
any boss(Castlevania:symphony of the night)
Big smoke(GTA:San andreas)
Tartaurus(Halo 2)
Hash'ak'gik(Blood omen,Blood omen 2, Defiance((Kinda))..)
Pigsy(manhunt)
any boss from any game before 1995. Old school
Tyrant(RE)
Nobunaga(Onimusha3)
The emperor(Jade empires)
Darth Malek(KOTOR)
The butcher(Pyschonauts)

and alot more I can't think of.

>>> Suikoden 4 - The pirate Brandeau, I think it was the very first "boss like" battle and it was easy too, but there it was something so cool and awesome about dueling face to face against Brandeau. The music the mood everything was so perfect and epic.. yeah, without a doubt my fav battle in a videogame.

Rubedo: *some slight spoilers in here*

chaos: I was just about to go and say that one! :D

Trowa: Another boss fight that was fun in SMRPG was against Valentina. She was just so hard because everytime Dodo nabbed Geno and tok him somewhere else to fight, I got massacred.

Rubedo: Gruntilda in Banjo Tooie was fun to, because of that whole quiz fiasco going.

Albedo: *laughs maniacally* And of course, fighting Albedo himself in Xenosaga Episode 2, was a blast!

Ultima Shadow
02-17-2006, 04:04 PM
Don't forget about the Axem Rangers! :p They where absolutely awesome... and so was Culex.

In FFVIII my fav is, obiviously, Ultima Weapon. But Ultimecia is also great and one of the most intressting final boss battles ever.

In Xenosaga 1, just about every boss is great... and the awesome battle system just makes them even better. However... Tiamat and Sophie Peithos where probably the coolest ones. Fighting Albedo was also great though, and I loved it when he used "Armor Breaker" and said "c'mon, c'mon, c'mon! Now DIE!".

Hmmmm... let's see... I loved the battle against that 2-headed lizard in "Link to the Past"... and then, the 2 hands on event match 50 in SSBM where damn cool... until I got good at the game. Now I can beat them in less than 1 min without getting hit even once. :-/

Final Fantasy 10, I Had To Take On All The Dark Aeons, Then Finally Make My Way To The Top Of The Airship And Fight, Penance. This Boss Was Fairly Hard, Due To The Mass Amounts Of HP He Had < 12, 000, 000HP >.

My Second Best Boss Fight Would Have To Be On 'Star Ocean 3' Third LevelOf The Secert Area, As You Fight The Yeti Beast. He Could Sure Pack A Punch I Can Tell You.
