depending on referance of music, do you prefer to listen to music loud or chill to it?

Loud. Always loud music, no matter what genre it is. :hyper:

Loud, louder the better, especially a bit of heavy metal, keeps the chavs away like garlic with vampires.

I usually like it all pretty loud, but after hours of blasting it, I get really annoyed with it and turn it waaaaaaaay down. Or off.

If it's loud, then you can turn the volume down to save battery power, so LOUD LOUD LOUD!!

Loud enough to cancel out all other sounds.

The music I listen to doesn't sound good when it's played loud, so I usually keep it at medium volume, not too loud and not too low.

I cannot stand it when people play music loud, especially when they live in a townhouse that's located right next to me.

Crappy music should be played low and good music should be played loud.

Elevator music should be played low. If you listen to good music it should be played loud or else it's possible you might miss details.

Depends what and where.
I listen to music on a bus full of screaming kiddies, so it always needs to be loud (iPod at almost full), to block out the other sounds. Somewhere like that you need to listen to music that's loud to begin with, though. If it's unavoidably quiet, you get the backround noise.

And I suppose it depends on what you're listening to. Keane just get's fuzzy if it's turned up too high, but something louder... I guess it kind of sucks if it's turned down low.

Maybe it also depends on what you're doing. Different bands for different occasions, so maybe volume too. Or maybe that just comes with the band again.
If you just want some backround music, it's pretty low. But if you speciffically (sp? word?!) want to listen to music then it's louder.

... I think.

Music was designed to be loud. Especially classical music.

Medium. Loud enough to hear and enjoy all the details but not loud enough to cause hearing damage. Probably between 70 to 80 dB.

Quiet in the mornings, I don't want to scare myself too much. If I'm driving a friend home, I keep it quiet too, so we can talk a bit. But if it's a song we both really like I'll turn it up fairly loud. If I'm driving by myself I'll turn it up quite loud. And I usually listen to music at home but I keep it quiet so it doesn't bother my parents too much.

I dont want to replace my speakers every couple of months by turning my music ridiculously loud. I have it at a somewhat medium level. I like to chill and lay back to my tunes.

Medium. Loud enough to hear and enjoy all the details but not loud enough to cause hearing damage. Probably between 70 to 80 dB.
Anything above 115dB can cause hearing loss, so as long as you keep it below you should be fine. I crank my mp3 player all the way up (103dB) all the time. :D

Anything sustained over 90 dB for a few hours can slowly cause hearing loss as well.

I do like to go very loud occasionally...like when listening to a great song in the car. :D

Medium for the most part, but when I go to sleep I put it on very low and when I'm in another room I like it very loud. Usually I'm sitting right next to the speakers though so I don't need a high volume.

Does everyone play their music loud? I just settle down with some headphones and relax. You don't have to blow your eardrums to enjoy music. ;)
