I've always thought that the character in the logo for FFIV was Cecil. But the other day I was reading this post (http://forums.eyesonff.com/showthread.php?t=78766) and after going to the character page on this site (http://ffiv.nintendo.com/final/) and clicking on the Kain link saw that the Amano art for Kain is the same character that is part of the FFIV logo.

So what do you think? Is art that the 'official site' uses for Kain incorrect, or have I been wrong thinking that the character in the FFIV logo is Cecil?

Actually, I always thought it was Terra in the Magitech Armor.

That's FFVI.

And it is defintely Kain. His pose in the logo is the EXACT same as the Amano art. Cecil's art involves white... lots of it. He is a paladin, after all. So yes, you have been wrong in thinking it has been Cecil. No offense intended.

I'm fairly certain it's Cain.

FFVI Logo: Cecil or Kain?

Wow, it DOES say FFVI. People need to learn their Roman numerals a bit better.

Of course it's Kain. Who else is awesome enough to grace the cover (and DON'T say Wolverine or Chuck Norris).

Hmm... how could it not be Kain?

I wonder what he looks like without the helmet... I can only know that his hair is down to his shoulders...

Kain Obviously

Besides, Cecil can't equip Spears

It's called a transposition error, look at the rest of my post and you'll see that I had it correct.

Back to topic.

So why would Kain be on the logo? Since Cecil is the main character it doesn't really make sense for it to have Kain in the logo.

Because it probably looked better, Cecil's Dark Knight Artwork is very ugly... and it's not always the main character...

In fact, it's not really the main character often at all. Only VI, VIII, and X-2 have the main characters on their logos.

How is TERRA the main character?

I would say that Terra shares the title of main character, she was the catalyst that started the whole storyline.

But those are the only answers that make sense!

If you've ever played FF4 for PS, one of the preloaders has Kain
walking to the center of the screen,in sprite form, doing that
exact same pose with a small 'Final Fantasy' surrounding him.

I think Kain is the main character, because
if you do beat the game you can tell,
and they do show him with his helmet off,
just the back of him though, and in sprite form...
yes, Kain is blonde...

I figured LOCKE was the main character, I thought it was TERRA, but whenever my party is changed, he's put on the top... So I thought it was LOCKE...

Well, in Final Fantasies 1 & 2 the logos didn't show the main heroes, but the antagonist (Garland, the Emperor). I'd say Cain is something of an antagonist, because he used to set you up, like... a lot. I haven't played FFIII, so I don't know who is on it's logo, but if it were an antagonist, it would all fit.

It's Kain beyond doubt. Why is he there? Because he was the most awesome of all characters, of course. <3

The new logo for FFIII has a random sword wielding guy. Presumably one of the 4 heroes.

the amano artwork that is the logo for ffIII is called "twin sword" it shows(like djzen said) one of the four boys (who look pretty old if ya ask me) holding two swords. (aptly named.) :cat: :choc2:

Really? To me it looks pretty much like Garland (I don't remember any warrior of light wearing a helmet like that).

I can see why it's Kain. Kain is the badness. He showed me that he was better than my sweet Cecil. (SNES version joke)

Furthermore, I think everyone should play the SNES FFII version. Good business. I liked it more than any other rehash. I think on the playstation version, Tellah never once calls anyone a "Spoony Bard", which is really the climax of the game. And the whole "A monster!" "Where?!" [Look left and right].

that was awesome too. I know these things happen in the other version, but the dialogue is so faulty on the SNES, it's awesome. If you want a few examples, just check out that Power of Cheese thing.

Actually, "You spoony bard!" is preserved in all the revised translations.
