FFXI FTW

It's hard to pick, really, there's a lot that I like. SoM, Vagrant Story, FFII, FFXI, FFX-2, Act Raiser, Kingdom Hearts, Star Ocean 2... I'm not really all that pickey when it comes to battle systems though.

That said, FFCC had sucky controls.

Kingdom Hearts had my favorite battle system. I loved all battles in that game.

Kingdoms Heart was pretty good for the most part, except for the few times when camera angle would suck or the camera would stuck on or behind something. It was probably my favorite battle system.

Im not sure I have a favourite, but I like real time battles like Star Ocean over standing-around-in-a-line battle systems like most FFs

I liked FFX-2's battle system the best offline battle system. I don't think you can compare FFXI's to the offline battle systems. It's too different. On a second place, I'll put SO3.

I like FFVII's materia system for how incredibly broken it can get, but the best battle system is definitely that of Super Mario RPG. I'm not crazy about the party sharing MP (or FP), but the Timed Hits aspect makes every turn of every battle interesting. Whether you're attacking or being attacked, you don't just choose commands and then watch the result play out. You get involved.

Bahamut Lagoon. Solid tactical battle system combined with melee Final Fantasy style action. Awesomeness.

I liked the Junction System from FFVIII. I found it easy to understand and I dont know how people can say it was the most difficult. Also FFX2s was fun with the dresspheres, I didnt choose the short intro for them either, watched them change 100% everytime :D

Exactly. Hell, the only reason I played the game was for the battles. :p Kingdom Hearts comes in a close second, and its sequel looks like it could very well take the top spot, at least from what I've seen in videos.

SO3 was good in that you could change people, unlike kh when u were restricted to 1 character
I liked the fluency of FFX-2, and being able to change classes in the middle of a fight meant less preperation beforehand
and then there were games like Super Mario RPG, Bahamut Lagoon, Chrono Trigger, Seiken Densetsu and so on that were also good, even though they were'nt nesseceraliy Square Enix games (not all of them anyway)
