I heard recently that Version 2.0 of "The Web" is going to be released in the next 1-2 years. Is this rumor true? If it is I'm anxious to see how this will change the Internet as we know it. What do you think will change?

It's a buzz word.

Pay no attention to it.

I've heard their planning on eliminating the reoccuring bug "lag". That'll be a huge step forward.

what

The government is really supposed to be pushing for all-out conversion to IPv6, I guess, but no one is calling that web 2.0.

Web 2.0 isn't "coming out", it has already been out in many different forms for a while now.

The term "Web 2.0" refers to what some people see as a second phase of development of the World Wide Web, including its architecture and its applications.

Many recently developed concepts and technologies are seen as contributing to Web 2.0, including weblogs, linklogs, wikis, podcasts, RSS feeds and other forms of many to many publishing; social software, web APIs, web standards, online web services, Ajax, and others.

It's less of a standard and more of a methodology.

This forum and site even use some of the web 2.0 principles. (Ajax, XHTML standards compliance, wiki, and RSS feeds.)

It's a seamless transition. Now if people would stop using IE we could finish with it.

Does this mean we have to download the upgrade

So web 2.0 is a casual thing with new things coming out and eventually we'll have internet 2.0!

Would this make it possible for me to be able to sniff the hair of my opponents on MSN Messenger, without leaving my seat?

The people on your list in MSN is not your opponents, it's your buddies. :rolleyes2

Hopefully web 2.5 will have a patch to get rid of that annoying Meat Puppet bug.
