View Full Version : Your longest gaming marathon?

A few weeks ago i found myself on vacation from work with two weeks off, and a few games that needed playing.

During those weeks i found myself playing Resident Evil 4 from midnight to noon one night. Thats 12 hours of straight gaming, which i couldnt believe i did after it was over.

Then about a week later i found myself playing Final Fantasy Tactics from about 6pm one night to around noon the next morning. That one clocks in around 18 hours!

Obviously, i took bathroom breaks, snack breaks, and breaks for breakfast, dinner, etc, but those are still my records.

So anyone else have some marathon gaming sessions like this? And if so than with what games? :choc2:

Once, I made over 20 and a half hours on FF8. I made it halfway into the second disc.

I don't know about console games, but on an MMORPG I pulled off an 18 hour run. My character was almost complete, though, so I got a bit too excited. It's been nearly two years since I've done that. I don't think I'd ever do it again. :mog:

Ragnarok Online and WoW have done it to me.

RO was...nigh-on constant during a month or two, finish the game at 6am, up at 12pm, play all day.

WoW was when trying to get from 39 to 40 on one character, I spent about 12 hours, and another was 34 to 36, which I think I spent about 10 hours on.

Tekken 3 with mates, 11pm till about 2pm next day ( somewhere around that), We stripped every bit of Goodness out of it, and that was the first time we drank alot, we felt Ill around 2pm next day and felt it was time we stopped, maybe not as long as some of the ones mentioned, but that was the longest Gaming Marathon Ive ever done, if its solo, then I put in a good 6-8 hours into Dark Chronicle, only one of two breaks.

I beat most games faster than other people so I could never rack up the huge times that some people do. I also have a job and stuff so I have this 10 hour gap every day that can't be filled with gaming :erm:

Oh yeah...the time. I will guesstimate between 8 and 12 hours. Who really knows??!!?!

I think it's only three hours, playing Call of Duty: United Offensive's Multiplayer mode. I rarely play games for extended periods of time.

It was playing Digimon World 4 with a kick ass friend. We got the bright idea of going after the signiture weapons for both our characters (Beelzemon and WarGreymon). For those of you who don't know, you have to beat the Hard Difficulty w/out turning of the power and then go to the very first area and fight "King" Numemon.
The Dreadnought took over an hour to get through, both times. We almost died fighting the final boss. We leveled up alot. We started Sunday morning around Lv. 110 and finished Monday morning at Lv. 137 (Beelzemon, Me) and Lv. 133 (WarGreymon, Friend). Sure, that may be enough for some people, but not us. We started a game in Ultra Hard difficulty and made it to Apakarimon (Boss of Death Valley), before we realized we were tired.

I used to play and beat Lunar SSSC, Suikoden, and Suikoden II within a week. It'd be six days or so of playing video games all day (say, 8-10 hours a day).

I did use 10 hours straight on FFIX. But now, I can't even play for an hour without losing interest.

Edit: The only game I spend hours on is POKÉMON Emerald. :D

I think it's somewhere around 10 hours. When FFVII came out, I bought it right as soon as the store opened and played it until I had to go get a hair cut. If it wasn't for that hair cut, I bet it would've been closer to 15 hours (because I definitely played again after the hair cut.)

I had like a 10 hour stint in FFXI. That was ages ago though, when I first got the game, and I was participating in my first level 1 death run that lasted for hours because too many people kept surviving the death run.

Once I played Super Mario Bros 3 with my brother, start to finish, beating every level, in a straight go. It went like 10 hours. Afterwards we could still hear the sounds of the game even when it was turned off.

Oh I can't do that anymore either. On my current game I get from save point to save point (which is an hour or two) then stop for the day (or stop for a few hours). There's no way I could do the 18 hours thing again. x__x

I think my longest was about 12 hours. I remember getting woken up early on a weekend by the new electronic school bell (there's a school across the street) and saying to myself, "Might as well whip out FFIX". Parents weren't home at the time so I had to feed myself (ordered a pizza). The only time I wasn't in front of the screen was during the toilet breaks I took. Fun fun.

Oh and I've spent up to 6 hours on the same machine (Soul Calibur 2) in the arcades.

Eh, maybe like, 10 hours. Something like that. And with some computer game I bet, like Vampire Masquerade:Bloodlines or Morrowind. I haven't done that for awhile either; I usually get stuck and frustrated and quit, or I get frustrated just because I've been playing so damn long so I quit. I hate playing games for hours and hours and hours straight.

Did lack of sleep actually mean you began to understand the story?

When I first played through Final Fantasy IX I played from 9am in the morning until 3am in the morning, so around 18 hours. Excluding food and toilet breaks. With all the breaks it probably took a couple of hours off, so I'd say 16 hours. :p

2 weeks off. First 15 hours I spent pwning on xbox live. Next 15 hours I spent going through GTA 3, vice city, san andreas, and liberty city stories. Then I got bored with video games and spent the rest of my time living my social life.

lol! honestly, I doubt a 12 year old could even stay up 48 hours, let alone 100. Anyways, as for me, probably 24 hours max, but I have no life anyways so I play games atleast 15 hours a day, everyday.

This week as been one long marathon! No school! I get up, have some coffee and chill out with CNN for maybe forty-five minutes. Then it's Tales of Destiny until my mother comes home, and I usually "socalize" with her for about half an hour. Two or three hours later, when my father comes home and kicks me out of the basement, I either play FFTA or FF8 (PC port).

Factoring in eating, bathrooming and the occasional load of laundry, I'd say I've probably played about 14 hours a day this week! Ah...how lovely gaming can be.

Pretty much ditto. Dunno what it is about the first 2 discs of that game. Never played a game for longer.

EDIT - allthough thinking about it I got further then half way through disc 2, pretty much finished that disc, must have been playing faster maybe.

I played Final Fantasy 8 my whole 2 weeks holidays in Ireland in the summer of 1999. I wanted to get every last item, weapon and GF. From the moment I woke up, to tea time, then bed I played it. I only really stopped for food, the bath room and seeing a relative every now and then.
