View Full Version : EoFF Fantasy Baseball 2006

It's that time again.

Another Yahoo custom league. PM me for the league info.

Made a few changes to scoring, but basically the same stuff as always. No more fielding, which is good, I think. Anyway, go join as long as you plan to participate. We don't want people quitting halfway through.

:D

Talk about the league and stuff here.

Del Murder
02-13-2006, 04:21 AM
Eh, I guess I'll join.

Raistlin
02-13-2006, 04:26 AM
Silly baseball. *shakes head*

Agent Proto
02-13-2006, 04:27 AM
I'll join, as I always do.

eestlinc
02-13-2006, 04:27 AM
baseball is the best sport, raislynn.

Raistlin
02-13-2006, 04:28 AM
blasphemy!

Agent Proto
02-13-2006, 04:29 AM
You know its true, Raist.

eestlinc
02-13-2006, 04:29 AM
and fantasy baseball is the true test. it is the marathon of all marathons.

Raistlin
02-13-2006, 04:32 AM
Yeah, it probably is the toughest fantasy sport. I'd join, if only to be involve in an EoFF fantasy sport all year round, but I can't pay attention to baseball. I barely pay attention to the NBA now, and I like basketball.

eestlinc
02-13-2006, 04:33 AM
don't join if you won't keep up with it, for sure. But baseball is so much fun to keep up with.

Del Murder
02-13-2006, 04:36 AM
As usual I plan on overvaluing Oakland players, because I'm going to win anyway. I might even play the entire A's starting lineup at some point. All of them have value, I'd say.

Agent Proto
02-13-2006, 04:36 AM
I intend to keep up as much as I can, until I'm out of the playoff race. xD

Edit: Wait, no playoffs, but I'll try to stay in the top 5, if it seems impossible to crack the fifth position, I may leave my team alone for the rest of the season, or not.

Del Murder
02-13-2006, 04:39 AM
Well if there's only five teams then you won't have to worry there!

eestlinc
02-13-2006, 04:43 AM
we'll get 12 hopefully.

RSL
02-13-2006, 05:05 AM
I'll join.

Baseball is the sport where you hit a ball with a stick, right?

eestlinc
02-13-2006, 03:54 PM

DeathKnight

You bet your asses I'm there!

Yankees!:choc2: :choc2: :choc2:

RSL
02-13-2006, 05:50 PM
omg RSL is going to play?
No of course not. I would be the annoying guy in the league that stopped paying attention after a month. I know you don't want one of those (as I hate when we get those in the football league). The fact that I can't name five baseball players off the top of my head doesn't bode well for my chances of success.

eestlinc
02-13-2006, 08:47 PM
yea, if you are going to play, you need to be committed to playing for the entire season, or at least up until some time in august when you can tell you aren't going to win. We recognize that sometimes things happen like your girlfriend tells you that you can't hang out with those eoff losers on the internet anymore, but you should plan on participating for the long season. If you are willing to commit to that, PM me and I'll send you the league info.

RSL
02-14-2006, 12:53 AM

That happens to me all the time. Hmmm, well, I probably still won't play. I'll think about it for a bit.

Del Murder
02-14-2006, 03:31 AM
If you do play, don't accept any trades from Strider, Spuuky, or eestlinc.

eestlinc
02-14-2006, 03:33 AM
That happens to me all the time.
that's what happened to m4tt. rip.

If you do play, don't accept any trades from Strider, Spuuky, or eestlinc.
or Del Murder, especially if they involve Dave Roberts.

Del Murder
02-14-2006, 03:34 AM
Which sucks because he actually paid attention and made good decsions when they didn't involve San Diego players.

eestlinc
02-14-2006, 03:35 AM
yea, m4tt was one of the better fantasy baseball players we had.

RSL
02-14-2006, 03:38 AM
I miss that guy.

Del Murder
02-14-2006, 03:40 AM
If he's happy where he is, then that's all that matters.

RSL
02-14-2006, 03:44 AM
Well yeah but I still miss him. I'm not saying he should give up what he has just to come back here.

Anyway, still thinking about this baseball thing.

eestlinc
02-14-2006, 03:58 AM
it's really fun and you will suddenly be following baseball every day and you will learn the players quickly. you could just let yahoo draft for you.

RSL
02-14-2006, 03:59 AM
Oh all right. Sign me up. Or send me the info. Or you know.

eestlinc
02-14-2006, 04:02 AM
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaHA!

ok.

it really will give you something to do all summer.

RSL
02-14-2006, 04:04 AM
Maybe not knowing what I'm doing will get me better results than in football where I'm supposed to know what I'm doing.

EDIT: Oh wow, unlike football for THREE STRAIGHT YEARS you have set up a draft time that I can actually attend. Of course, I should probably just let yahoo pick my team as I won't have a clue what I'm doing.

eestlinc
02-14-2006, 04:19 AM
Duck Hunt! classic.

Hey peeps, my team's the New York Yankees so don't you dare take it:mog: Damn I love this draft thing

It makes you wonder who's gonna draft who...and who will draft first and last..................man this is crazy:D I know who I'm planning on drafting already hahaha:cool:

can't wait to see who's gonna be my rival team, etc.:choc2:

Nabeshinji
02-14-2006, 09:17 PM
I'm definitely game for another year of fantasy baseball. My baseball teams peak early and then fall to the middle of the pack, so I'm motivated to change that.

I take it that shutouts will be removed this year. That category really helped me, but CG is a much more fair measure. If 3B remains, I hope 2B is added.

eestlinc
02-15-2006, 10:02 PM
yea we killed shutouts. keeping 3B just for novelty value, but I don't really think doubles are that meaningful, especially since they already count for slugging percentage and doubles are what power hitters hit when they fail to hit a home run. triples require a lot more actual skill, if that's the right word.

Agent Proto

StriderX284: Let eest know I'm in, but that it might take me a while to sign up. Kinda like Spuuky is every year

Strider

Yeah, I got the message before I had to disappear again.

I signed up, so I'll be preparing well for the draft.

Strider
03-18-2006, 05:38 AM
We should probably make an announcement here in case one person or another hasn't been to the league page recently.

DRAFT IS TOMORROW, SATURDAY MORNING AT 8 AM PST, 11 AM EST.

Uh guys.........I know this may sound REEEEEEEEEEALLY dumb...but how do we win? I mean is it based on what individual players do during the season and then take a specific math of everyone's players to equal a win? and is it gonna be 1on1? or 1 VSeveryone else???

Sorry if it all sounds dumb or strange lol.

eestlinc
03-20-2006, 05:23 AM
you accumulate stats in each category and the person with the most points in each category gets 12 points for that category, the next person gets 11, all the way down to one point for the last place team in that category. Add up all the categories and this is your team score. Whoever has the most points at the end wins.

Del Murder
03-20-2006, 06:28 AM
Or, in a more correct sense, I win.

If you ever come visit the Bay Area we'll go to a game, and bring Fresno along too. That would be the shizzle.

Okay, how about...

He hits 714 on Tuesday, then hits 715 when I'm there. The pacing is pretty much right on track, I think.

EDIT:

So much for that, he just hit 714 and there wasn't any doubt.

:kaocheer:Barry Barry:kaocheer:

To people who hate him:

-Don't hate him 'cause his skin is BROWN(you all know that if it was Marc McGwuire or someone with peach skin, you would still root for him)

-Even if he used steriods, don't hate him, hate the GAME which allowed it.

-He's still a human being.

-Deep inside I'm SURE he's sorry for it all

Del Murder

I missed it! I was at my brother's graduation. I hope he gets 715 on Tuesday. That one's still historical.

That was a good game too.

Same old story. The East coast talks about how they are better than the West, and the West doesn't really care. Personally I like our laid back approach to sports. They're just games, and I think we take them as seriously as games should be taken.

Tell me something, when fans take things seriously (like in the WBC, does it not feel better? does it not attract more attention, doesn't it become a better thing)

examples:
-Football(Soccer) fans
-WBC and all its fans
-East coast World Series(baseball)

See, even eestlinc believes in my theory. So yes, east coast is the best for baseball. And I was just responding to those who said "Barry Bond's homerun was in a boring game" so there you, that's the west coast for you.

Not all New Yorkers kick ass like me, you oughta know that. But seriously, not EVERYONE here takes it seriously, the majority at least, he just happens to be an exception.

It's too bad Barry Bonds will now probably have to be linked with Hank Aaron for all time, though hopefully he doesn't pass him. Aaron was everything Bonds is not, he was always dignified, classy, and never tried to make himself bigger than the game ('Bonds On Bonds' Anyone?). Bonds is a great player, no doubt about it. He was a HOF before the the juiced era really clouded everything up, but the problem is, he's done nothing to really give us any reason to root for him or to even believe him. His disposition doesn't help his case, in fact, it makes more people root against him.

Mets - Yankees games are boring, especially in May. Now, should they meet in October or November, then it's something, but interleague has been around a while now and the novelty is wearing off.

Same goes for Yankees - Red Sox games in May. Nothing bugs me more than sportscasters and writers trying to hype up matchups when we're not even to the All-Star break.

I try to take a more universal apporach to sports. Follow every sport as best you can, and you'll find all sorts of interesting and exciting storylines. Those who restrict themselves simply to just baseball or football are missing out in my opinion. Granted, as an American and New Yorker, New York sports will always dominate my time, but it's good to take a break and realize that there is more out there than just Yanks, or Mets, Giants or Jets.

Take care all.

To be honest, I don't care 'bout big stars: Pujols, Bonds, etc. What I really care 'bout is TEAMS: Yankees, Red Sox, Braves, Dodgers.

So yes, talking 'bout teams, how's everyone's FAVORITE team doing so far? And which OTHER team are you admiring???

-Yankees: They're doing pretty good, lots of injuries and stuff but we're looking for the Rocket.

-Blue Jays: Awesome team, they're up there with the Yanks and BoSox.

the Braves are finding ways to win most games. now they just need to fire Reitsma. Giles has been sucking this year too. Rumors are swirling around ATL about Giles being on the roids in the past. Hopefully he's just slumping and will pick it up. He has shown some signs of hitting recently and he's been drawing walks all season.

Oakland just lost to the Royals. At home. And now they are losing again. Not good.

The A's are actually the best team in their division, but not without Harden and their entire bullpen.

I don't know why they spent money on Loazia when Saarloos is a decent 5th starter.

They'll be in it in the end, but they might fall short again this year.

Swisher for the All Star team. He's not even on the ballot.
