I here UTorrent is pretty good. I use Azereus...or how ever you spell it but a lot of people have been telling me UTorrent is awesome. I don't know a lot about its features or anything so I recommend checking that one out.

Seeds are the people you're downloading from. Also, when you're done downloading something, you should leave it on for a while to seed for other people.

I use BitComet myself, and it works fine and dandy.

I'll back those who use Azureus. Works a charm.

Downloading a torrent file isn't illegal. The file(s)/folder it tracks is. :)

Other programs like BitTorrent work fine and everything, but out of all, this is by far imho the best torrent downloading program out there.

I think it depends on the machine you're running it on :p Azureus is the best and most feature rich you can get out there especially with plugins, but being written in java, is a nice memory hog :p I see over 100MB usage normally on my laptop, though it hit 350 MB the other day after having it open for a few weeks running several very large (few GBs each) torrents :p

µTorrent is my next favourite though for Windows - extremely tiny memory usage and no install required, but still got most of the features of a clean Azureus install, so very good on lower spec machines.

The only reason I'd have liked BitComet previously is it's ability to get around traffic shapers and some filters on evil ISPs due to encrypting/obfuscating what it transfers between compatible peers/seeds, but since the latest version of Azureus and µTorrent can do this too now (and with an open implementation too, not closed like BitComet's), I don't see any reason to use BitComet any more :p Seems to be a popular client for China/Hong Kong users for some odd reason though :p

You need to cut down on the :p, clout. :p

Yeah, one thing I dislike about Azureus is the huge memory footprint it leaves.
