Who's you do you think is the best rapper ever?

My answer, 2pac I know what your saying, weak answer right? NO its not, he had the best lyrics, the best voice and greatest message. He had the best songs and his albums were always complete unlike rappers today who make one pop/rap hit an call it quits on the rest of the album.

Edit-Psychic Hornet gave me a good idea, dont only post your favorite rapper, post your favorite qoute from that rapper.

At the time I think Game is showing alot of promise, Eminem is the best white-boy, and of all time would have to be Eazy-E.

I met you on friendster, your name was all weird, I feared the worst but the more I learned it all became clear, you were a female peer, just a few years younger than I, and you wrote the longest letters, the very best size.

You live in London, used slang like prat, you were dating the gym one akin to tight abs, I’d spend the days half, trying to make you laugh, you would and write back give me some more of that, well after one week, I knew I was hooked, you'd blush at each key stroke of X O, without getting one look at the other side guy his pics might be fake, this type of happens every day.

I’m no rock star, a clock watching drone, who's breath stinks of liquor, all stoned like lawn gnomes. No girlfriend, no hook ups, just lovelorn and fucked up, no friend to just vent on, one who'll, say all bets off. concert was cancelled, you answered my email. Turns out you're bummed out didn’t want to give details. A mate had od'd, I could feel your heart beat. I miss you never met you, X O M C.

Boys don't cry, they prefer ballin' and shot callin. Teardrops fallin', I’m jonesin' harder than gollum, please god say that's London callin.

why ya gotta be so far away, why do plane tickets gotta cost an arm and a leg, maybe i should save a couple dollars a day, so without delay, i can look at your face, smell your hair, rest my hand on your neck, never mind neckin, you know that comes next I’ll buy you a dress at that place owned by dodi fayed. give ya head every night before bed.

but you might not D I G M C, might think me too brash or condescending, a sad finish without taking a first step, can't avoid saying something that I will regret but I bet that we would hit off great I could come to you, or you could come to the states, get you a job at mtv, whatever you need, I’m a slave 4 u like Britney was to jt. romance is a cruel trick. playin me like school kids, don't know if I should do this, if i'm stupid or just foolish, can't help but (pursue) this, despite you being half a world from me, what I wouldn't give to sit and sip a cup of tea, while you nibbled on a crumpet, I’d love it indeed, sincerely yours, X O M C.

Boys don't cry, they prefer ballin' and shot callin. Teardrops fallin', I’m jonesin' harder than gollum, please god say that's London callin.

mc chris wrote a rap song - a serious one, no less - about online relationships. That's one of the many reasons why he is the best rap artist, in my book.

Greatest rapper ever is hard. It's definately NOT 2Pac. He was no more than 'ok'. Then his pathetic 'disses' to NYC, any respect that idiot had was lost then.

It would be Biggie. There has been nothing like him since. Great lyrics, amazing flow, funny, serious. I could go on. There's also Jigga, underneath the bad commercial albums, he's an amazing emcee. Nas released one of the greatest albums ever in Illmatic. You have Cormega, Kool G Rap, Mobb Deep & Raekwon.

There is an amazing amount of greatness on the underground scene too. Slug from Atmosphere, Vinnie Paz from Jedi Mind Tricks, Sage Francis, Immortal Technique, Cage, Esoteric, JUICE, Jean Grae, Outerspace, MURS, Styles of Beyond etc etc

Too many to name.

Busta Rhymes has always been a favourite, tunes like Fire It Up and Gimme some more make him my personal favourite ( even though he isnt really doing anything that great nowadays )
Vybz cartel is another great artist, although people would probably put him under Reggae.
Pharaoh Monche is great, Probably made the greatest Hip Hop tune ever, Simon says.
I guess Nas should be mentioned, best tune is Nas is like.
I like 2pac, but hes only got massive recognition because hes dead, sorry if that sounds mean :(
Guess the final of my list is Biggy, 10 Crack Commandments and Juicy are smurfing great tunes.
I'd pick between Busta and Biggy.
Best quote, Hmmmmm, "Im more ill than an asthmatic on crack"

Well, kinda. He more mixes pretty much anything he likes together, so sometimes you've got rap, but them sometimes you've got something more like a serenade. But yeah, he's pretty goddamn brilliant, whatever you count him as.

Anyway, my fave rap artist would have to be Sage Francis.

it sounded startling
but now i'm starting to hate the quiet moments
might remind you of a mike
by the way i hold it (to the grill)
a homophobic rapper
unaware of the graphic nature of phallic symbols
tragically ironic, suckin' off each others' gats & pistols"

2 Pac beefed with JayZ, Nas, and Mobb Deep, and slaughtered them on his albums, but who do they praise whenever they come out with an album now, Nas even raps to remixed 2Pac songs, thats called respect.

The fact that no one has even bothered to mention a female rapper, just goes to prove how male dominated the genre is. In my opion, Lauryn Hill could out rap any male rapper out there today. She's incredibly talented, her mic is way better than most male rappers.

Her rhymes are more poetic then anything, I dont think she is much of a battle emcee. But this Genre isnt supremely dominated by Male rappers, Queen Latifah before she started doing movies used to rip male rappers apart in battles in New Jersey, Eve, Trina, Missy Elliot, MC Lyte have all went Platinum and Gold, that means someone out their likes them.

then you obviously don't know 2pac, he wasnt put as the best rapper for no reason you know.

I listen to rap religiously and i personaly think that no-one even comes close to 2pac. I could be here talkin all day about him but what il say is that he had the best voice, best rapper lyricly and the most inteligent. He didnt always use his inteligence to do good things but nobody can deny he had talent.

2pac represented everything that was wrong with hip hop in the 90s. He dissed people. WHAT A GUY. No one but Chino XL & Mobb Deep bothered replying. Taking the higher ground to keep the peace. He was voted the greatest rapper. Again, WHAT A GUY. Talent isn't measured in mass appeal. If that were so, Spice Girls own Pink Floyd & Titanic was the greatest movie ever made.

Kids like 2pac as he represents the pointless hatred & rebellion every teen likes to portray. He's like emo for wiggers. He had skills, he just invented his life & started living how he rapped. Not realising it would kill 2 great talents & god knows how many more in the aftershocks. See past the BS people.

Getting shot, going to prison and having your so called friends turn their back on you would make anybody pissed. Many still dont know what sparked Chino XL to diss Pac, only reason figured is that he just wanted to help his album sales, didnt help btw. 2Pac everything wrong with 90's rap? Besides helping to put rap on the map, he actually had a message in his rhymes besides how much bling he had, his albums were complete, he wrote his own music, he has about 1,000 unreleased songs because he was constantly writing, he worked hard on every song, not just a pop song that you could play on the radio and call it quits, name one song that JayZ, Nas,or Biggie came out with that had the same emotional and social resonance as "Keep ya Head Up", "Dear Momma", "Changes" and "Brendas Got a Baby". He introduced phraise Thug Life to the world, not thug has in he will snatch your purse or rape your daughter but as a person born into poverty and hard times who makes it out and is still himself, and Nas and JayZ took the image and ran with it, which is what led to him dissing them, funny how when asked who Nas' favorite rapper is he replies 2Pac, and JayZ constantly mentions him in his lyrics. And Tupac wasnt dissing New York he was dissing their rappers who he saw has being fake and not "real" with who they were, especially bad boy records. after this statement I question the fact of whether you actually know any black urban youths, because if you stop the average black person in the street and ask them who they think is the greatest rapper of all-time 9 times outta 10 they will say 2Pac. Yes Tupac was born in new york but wtf does that have to do with anything He repped weast coast so why should he claim NYC for anything? I know SEVERAL black white latino urban youths, and yes tupac is in the top 3 but 9 out of 10 don't say he's the best. Mostly they say Big L and Biggie. Or DMX. Nas is my persoanl favorite, I know he's not the best but he's my favorite. He's the best knowledge rapper. Nas is Nas, Jay Z does not constantly mention Pac. Jay Z constantly mentions Biggie & occastionally mentions Pac. Again sourceless claims.

He got shot because he shot up a venue in Oakland with kids & went to prison because of gang rape.
Never heard that, from what I know Pac was set up to be killed and to make it look like a robbery, but he was with friends and they didnt get an ounce of jewelry robbed form them and he was the only one shot, when he got up to the hotel room he said that Puffy and many others looked surprised that he was alive. In the rape case Pac was set up by the police and one of his friends who was gang leader was an informent. It was because Pac had shot 2 off duty police officers in an altercation. The police officers were assualting a black motorist when Pac stopped them. The charges in this case were dropped because the officers were intoxicated and had stolen guns from an evidence locker, they also started the altercation. Pac has said that he wasnt envolved in the rape, but he has stated that he feels bad for not knowing enough to stop it.

Many don't know? are mad? Do your homework. Chino Xl responded to Pac's mad rant at the end of hit em up.
Hit em up was a response or dont you do your homework. Pacs response was due to the fact that CHino XL in a song called "Riiot", claimed 2Pac was raped in jail, in which he stated "by this industry, I'm trying not to get smurfed like 2Pac in jail", this was before hit em up. Chino XL, later stated that he meant no disrespect to Pac, and that he greatly respected him, Chino XL now claims to be a west coast rapper. Again due your own homework, mines already turned in.

Nas is Nas, Jay Z does not constantly mention Pac. Jay Z constantly mentions Biggie & occastionally mentions Pac. Again sourceless claims.
What do you mean Nas is Nas? How does that back up your argument. Okay you say JayZ occasionally mentions Pac, but he does mention him, before a show he stated "long live 2Pac" or something to that effect. Again JayZ started it by dissing him on "Brooklyn's Finest" him AND Biggie. And Mobb Deep is just a bunch of losers, they even tried to beef with Jayz.

I could care less where someone is born or where they rep. That isn't my point.
Whats your point, that only white suburban kids listen to Pac, how many black urban kids do you know?

Kids like Pac. Again I must say WHAT A GUY and refer to my earlier statements on angsty emorap for kids.
He spoke out against police brutallity, ingnorance and selling out, sadly this didnt seem to have an affect on rappers like Nelly, Chingy, Lil Kim and P Diddy.

Psy Hornet, so you know 3 black, white and latino urban youths? Just kiddin, Nas is a great rapper, he's in my top 5 for his message and that fact that he doesnt make pop songs, and Im not saying that Pac should be the be all end all, Im often torn between him Biggie and Rakim, but he is more than "ok" as Cuchulainn put it.

It is well known. It was a Jamaican style punishment shooting for his firing into a crowd of kids in Oakland. He was set up for it, undoubtedly. But not by Bad Boy, they simply had not the clout at that stage. There are strong hints maybe Stretch Walker was involved. The crew in the building were surprised, yes. Who wouldn't be. That does not make them responsible. We will never truely know what happened, either at the Manhattan shooting or at the rape, to exhonourating him is as retarded as blaming him.

Hit em up was a response or dont you do your homework. Chino is well known for his methaphoric raps. I'm well aware of riiot. Chino also has a line about being fatter in hip hop than Biggie. These's are not direct attacks but intelligent similies every rap artist uses. Biggie was big enough to see the funny side, Pac wasn't.

What do you mean Nas is Nas? How does that back up your argument..

Nas has a dope flow but no crew so he floats from camp to camp. Nas is Nas. He has shafted so many former friends it's not funny, now he's virtually lonesome. I don't dislike or like him. I'm just not surprised by anything he comes off with that contradict earlier statement.

Jigga occasionally mentions Pac like I said. You quoted me then backed it up? Mobb Deep are loser based on what? The fact you take some dead rappers beefs on your shoulders & carry them like you have a right to? Please.

Whats your point, that only white suburban kids listen to Pac, how many black urban kids do you know?

I have no problem with suburban white kids listening. Just as long as they don't dress like Busta Rhymes & say 'nigga'. Those kids tend to only follow the bling shoot kill nigga hip hop. It's that that disgusts me.

He spoke out against police brutallity, ingnorance and selling out, sadly this didnt seem to have an affect on rappers like Nelly, Chingy, Lil Kim and P Diddy.

A LOT of rappers have spoke out about that. He hasn't the monopoly there. You list hip-pop artists I have zero respect for so I have no intention to defend.

Biggie's lyrics, flow, humour was, in my opinion, superior to anyone since. There will be no one like him again. He Was & is the Greatest of all time.

Not really true tho, Nas has AZ, Mobb, NORE, nature on and off for all he's worth :p, The Bravhearts (Jungle Whiz Horse and Neshawn) Quan, Jadakiss & Dblock and the game. I guess he's starting a new label and said "you'll be suprised who I signed." I found this quite amusing:
MTV: Hey, 50 is signing a bunch of folks to G-Unit!
Nas: They don't got enough paper for me.

Jacques Agnant aka Haitian Jack was responsible for it, he was an informant, Pac got 1 to 4 yrs while he was given a 3 year suspended sentence. And Haitian Jack was funding Bad Boy at that time, never heard about Pac shooting kids, I think your trying to spin some lies. Pac got into an altercation in Marin County, they shot at Pac and 1 of the bullets ricocheted and killed a kid. THe sheriffs department were their and because they handled the situatuion badly shots were fired but not by 2Pac.

Theirs a difference between calling somebody fat and spreading lies about a dude while he is in jail sayin he got raped. Talking about a dudes weight problem and talking about somebody getting sexually assaulted in jail are completely different things. Pac really didnt respond though, he gave Chino 5 words, "Chino XL, smurf you too" thats it.

I'm just not surprised by anything he comes off with that contradict earlier statement. Like Psy said, AZ, NORE, Nature, he doesnt float from camp to camp he gots true friends, he's not lonesome, he's just real, and wont put out what the record companies would like him to put out. He's not a sell out. Jay Z will be funding a Nas album later this year.

Jigga occasionally mentions Pac like I said. You quoted me then backed it up? Mobb Deep are loser based on what? The fact you take some dead rappers beefs on your shoulders & carry them like you have a right to? Please.
Jay Z qouted in interview, "2pac & Biggie were the great pioneers in Hip Hop, who paved way and created the blueprint for me, and now that they gone, I will like to keep them alive because they inspired me, (especially on this album)". This was done during an interview with Sway in light of him sampling 2pacs "Me and My Girlfriend". Killa Cam is now taking shots at Jay. Jay Z vs DipSet should be interesting. Mobb Deep is whack because they change sides and beef with everybody. And I dont take dead rappers beefs on my shoulders, I like JayZ, Nas, and Biggie, put Pac was the greatest.

I have no problem with suburban white kids listening. Just as long as they don't dress like Busta Rhymes & say 'nigga'. Those kids tend to only follow the bling shoot kill nigga hip hop. It's that that disgusts me.
Like I said, how many black urban kids do you know? Pac was an activist, he was visited by the nation of Islam and Jesse Jackson before he died, he was on so many different levels than any rapper ever, he was a poet, artist and great actor, theirs no doubt that he would have a oscar if he was still alive.

A LOT of rappers have spoke out about that. He hasn't the monopoly there. You list hip-pop artists I have zero respect for so I have no intention to defend.
Yeah, alot of rappers have mentioned it, but he is probably the only rapper that succeeded in getting it to the mainstream. Biggie had power and could of rapped about it, but he rapped more about his money and such, which Pac knew at the time he didnt have, Pac let biggie rap at his concerts and stay at his house. And Biggie just dissed him.

Biggie's lyrics, flow, humour was, in my opinion, superior to anyone since. There will be no one like him again. He Was & is the Greatest of all time. Biggie was probably one of the greatest battle rappers of all-time and the humor he used in his rhymes where legendary "So we can steam on the way to the telly go fill my belly. A t-bone steak, cheese eggs and Welch's grape", both are in my top 2, but everytime I have to go with Pac because he was more of a complete rapper, with a better message.

Soul Taker, fair play to ya for giving 2pac justice. i would have said the same things if you hadnt posted. im delighted to see someone apprieciates this artists music, poetry and movies.

-and while your doin the humpty hump, i just have to say that D.U. never really got the acclaim they deserved, but Thug Life most especially, MoPreme and The Rated R being the most noted in my opinion. They may have not been around for long, but Volume 1 was probably my favourite 2pac (if partly) Album(even though it may only go 10 tracks deep)

It's a different Jay-Z.

And we'll agree to differ on Pac. This is turning into a tennis match that I'm gradually getting bored of playing. Let me just say this. Biggie only rapped about being rich...when he got rich. His first album was grimey as hell. To paraphrase own words, when he was making his much when he was getting paid, rapping about being broke, drug dealing & toting guns would not have been being real. Biggie had strong DEEP lyrics. 'Suicidal Thoughts' is chilling, 'Me & My Bitch', 'Ready to Die'. He was a complete emcee.

He's been releasing some outstanding efforts over the last few years and does an amazing job differing himself from other MCs.

The best mainstream rapper ever? I don't know. It's a toss up really. Sometimes it's either between 2 Pac vs Biggie or Nas vs Jay-Z for me.

Apparently I missed Pac-man's rap effort. Probably because of that silly '2 Pac" name he used, I didn't twig at first. Where can I download it, and is it anything more than "Wakka wakka wakka wakka wiggidy wakka"?
