View Full Version : About Death Machine...

So, ehm, in DoS when I'm currently trying to complete my Bestiary of FF1.
When I ran into Death Machine (known as Warmech in the original NES version) I saw you could get Genji Armor if you blast that thing to pieces.
It would be a nice addition to my Genji collection, because I already have a Genji Helm and Genji Glove by beating up Typhon and Gilgamesh.
But how do you get it from Death Machine? Just luck? Fighting him and hoping he drops it? Or do you need to do something special?
And, while I'm typing, is it possible to get a Genji shield from some monster in DoS?
I would really be grateful if I could get an answer...

I'm pretty sure it's actually NOT a rare drop for him.

Actually, I already have beaten Tiamat (otherwise, I couldn't have beaten Typhon.) It took me quite long before I got to see him! But he's worth it! 8000 exp and 32 000 gil! Woohoo! But still haven't got the blasting armor.
When you've seen him once, you have a higher chance to see him again, I noticed. Well, I keep trying.
Any ideas to get the Genji Shield if its available?

Basement two of the Lifespring Grotto.
Thanks, I'll play that grotto when I have time.
Blast, wish I knew sooner, cause I just finished that grotto of three days ago.
But basement two won't always be correct (I think), because the floors in those added dungeons always change place. :rolleyes2

The type of floor doesn't matter since the treasure that can spawn there will always be the same. The floor layout changes, but the treasure available doesn't. Note that Genji Shields are very rare and will take a few run throughs before you can acquire it.

So... Can I find it in a treasure chest or do monsters drop it?

No, it can only be found from a chest. No monster in the game drops the Genji Shield.
