To settle an age old debate, what do you call these magnificent inventions?

Chris

Snake, in China they say, "When walking through a melon patch, don't adjust your sandals." That means that when things get really bad, you have to try to remember what's important. Keep things in the proper perspective, okay?

Mitch

You're all wrong.

Jandals is the correct answer. Just ask BoB.

You usually don't ask things like that of someone who can't properly pronounce "no."

Sandals, and they're rubbish. Feet are evil and should be encased at all times. They make mockeries of everyday normal shoe abiding folk.

I asked some buddies of mine whether they called them "flip-flops" or "jandals", and I got the "What planet is this guy from?" look. Looks like you call them whatever you do depending on where you come from. I guess... :eyebrow:

I am here to educate you fools.

Flip Flops: http://images.chron.com/content/news/photos/05/07/15/nuflipflops.jpg
Sandals: http://www.zappos.com/boutiques/844/sandals_main032005.jpg
Jandals: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jandals

Basically, jandal is what flip flops were originally called, but the phrase flip flop is much cooler.

Sandles or Flip flops. Personally, I can't stand them. I <3 socks, THEY WERE MADE FOR SOMETHING.

Slade
02-17-2006, 03:11 AM
A sandal is like what the Roman's used to wear, a flap jack is some sort of pancake and a flip flop is a part of the male anatomy.

Jandals are the key. Jandals are the world. Jandals are the RIGHT way to pronounce this type of footwear ;)

VOTE JANDALS You know they'd do the same for you

1) I have no idea wtf a Jandal is.
2) I've always thought a Sandal was a type of flip-flop that had support around the back of your foot too.
Like this:

3) Here in Australia, we call flip-flops Thongs too.

JANDLES!!!

Well they call them flip-flops in the US.

And jandals were really invented in Japan, not NZ like we say they are. Kiwi's "can't handle the jandal".

I see "jandals" a lot in Auckland.

I've never used or heard the word jandals before. We say sandals. But those things in the picture are flip flops.

And I agree on the word flip flops being cooler 'cause it's the noise they make.

Mittopotahis

I say flip-flop.

What's really funny is when people call them thongs.

They are thongs, nothing else. Its not funny, because we call your thongs g-strings. Thongs go on your feet. although I have met a few confused people who put g-strings on their feet.
