Well we got a fairly large size pointer recently. Too bad he was overly curious of the router. Thrashed it bad. The power wouldn't even come on. Paniced the whole family. For a first time in a long while we all got together. Nothing like breaking your router to bring the family together .

The Linksys Router after my dad got done *fixing* it.

A close up of the power. Dad pried at the connecter for a bit so that it would stay with the power on. Before he pried it, it would flicker on... then off. then on again. Now it stays on.

Here is a close up of the WAN and the LAN connectors along with another view of the power connector.

Here is a frontal view. To your right you can see the screw dad put in to hang it from the wall. And hanging above it you can see our cable modem.

How about a side view?

How about a sideview showing the screw?

And finally but not least a picture of the family working together to fix the issue.

-The Purple Arrow points to the BareBones Router.
-The Pink Arrow points to the Cable Modem
-The Red Arrow points to where the Cable Modem and the BareBones Router plugs into. The light to your left also plugs into it. If you turn of the light via the light switch on the wall, you also turn off the Cable Modem and the BareBones Router. Dad thought this was brilliant. It is not uncommon to have to reset(unplug and replug) the router 4 or 5 times a week. Dad says this way is much easier.

My mom was talking to my brother in his room in this picture. One of my sisters is standing partially behind me(I am the one running the wires over the door frame. My other sister is the one who took the picture. And my dad, his dirty work done, had gone to take a break and to let me get the rest of the wires out of the way.

Seriousally this has got to be the first time in years our family worked together to get something done(the last time being when we added the last addition onto the house. Or maybe when we reshingled the roof... no that was mostly dad, my brother, myself and mom). Anywas, it is sad isn't it?

The good thing is all the cables are off the floor and in the air now. In addition alot of it is high enough up that not even the curious pointer can easily get to it. Took a while to do though. My sister was really mad at the dog. Not to mention they gave dad and me heck when we told them we weren't sure if we could fix it. As I said the dogs worked a number over it. Tip: never take away a girl's internet. Even the passive ones get violent then:greenie: .

All in all... a fun night.

i got quite lost when you started talking about the technicalities but it seemed like you and the whole family made fun out of a situation which you didn't think could

Mechanics? Did I get that technical? Didn't realize it.

As for the fun.. yeah, though the first 10 or so minutes were my sisters throwing fits about no internet and screaming at me to fix it.
