..Why do our eyes have to suffer when we see posts that have at least 4637638246973 smilies in them? Make a limit..like, 3 smilies a post! :'(

IT MAKES MY EYES BLLEEED

Thank you for reading this..

It's a wonder nobody banned him.

I'm pretty sure if someone posted that many smilies in one post then they would get a solid warning. I'm also pretty sure it's impossible to post that many smilies. You'd have to be more specific as exaggerations don't help when we're trying to look into things like that, but as far as I know, nobody uses too many smilies on a regular basis and if they do we can give 'em a slap on the hand and tell them to cut it out.

Yeah, at least that's only one image. I don't think we'll be punishing anyone for that.

I'll go find more if you want me to..

If someone was going to make a post like this...

Then yes, we would probably give them a warning.

I'd give them sex

And then you find out it was crash that you'd be giving it to?

On a related note, why do people feel the need to add ":)" to the end of every frigging post they make? Man that's annoying.

I got some PMs like that the other day.

You should see usernotes, sometimes. That's top-heavy stuff. :)

Yeah. In one person's usernotes, I click on a page and my PC dies. :(

But, the smilies are great!

I propose we do away with smilies entirely.

If you ever see something that makes your PC crash, PM me with the name of the persons usernotes. We don't allow that, and I will delete it and possibly usernote ban the person who did it.

If my browser doesn't crash (no pun intended) then I consider myself lucky.

That would be me and there is a reason why that emoticon is there. It, as well as :(,,, etc. are all used to denote what the member is feeling at the time of their post. This is an MB and as such it is all text and text has no way of letting who's reading it know anything about the writer. This guy (:))does. :)

It is also very easy to read text the wrong way or give a sentence many different meanings if a smilie is not used. For example:

<i>I had to go to the store again. :)</i>
The :) shows you that I'm really happy that I had to go to the store again.

<i>I had to go to to the store again. :(</i>
The :( shows you that I wasn't very happy about having to go to the store again.

<i>I had to go to to the store again. :mad2:</i>
The :mad2: shows you that I was very upset that I had to go to the store again.

<i>I had to go to to the store again.</i>
That really doesn't tell you much other than the fact that I had to go to the store again.

So, whether you find :) to be annoying or not, I will still continue to use it because it is what I'm feeling at the time. I will also always use :cat: just because I like to see it. :)

Yeah, I'm going to have to side with getting rid of smilies all together.

Or at least introduce ':iamchoosingnottousesmiliesasifeelthatitindirectlycheapenstheenglishlanguage:'.

Levian

Don't worry, Maxico. Even though you do your part not to cheapen the English language, I will double my cheaping amount to even things out.

You don't have to thank me.

I always put a  at the end because I think it look cute and meh to people who are too grumpy to like it!!
But too many smilys make me have a brain bleed...

that 200 or 250 image/smiley limit is annoying when it doesn't tell you how many you've used! :(

I like emoticons because it adds a bit of a more realistic tone to your intarwebspeakings. If I am contente I will use a :)

and now I realize that half of those dont' have smilies assigned tot hem, but that's okay ^_^

You'll survive looking at more than three smilies per post, don't worry.

Nobody who uses more than three smilies per post would have any idea that there was a rule in place preventing it.
