I just invited a hydra and I'm not really sure how I get it to learn more abilities. It is the best monster you can get right? Also, I read something about it laying eggs? Whats that all about?

Walk around with monster in your batallion and it will naturally lay eggs as you walk around. After a few days, the eggs will hatch and a new monster of the same genre will be born (possibly a higher tiered type tho. i.e. Hyudra and Tiamatats from catching a Hydra)

Equip someone with "Monster Skill" squire support skill. And have that person be near a monster, and it will unlock hidden abilities of that monster

Also, Tiamats are prolly one of the best monsters you can bring into battle, the 3rd tier of Hydra

is there a maximum amount of times a monster will lay eggs? Or can I keep just one hyudra and delete all of its eggs that arent tiamats.

It will keep pumping out eggs as long as you don't let it go.

I kept a guy with monster skill around it and it could only use one different attack when he was right next to him (the bracelet one, with the breath and all). Is that normal? Isnt there some way so that I can send the hydra away and still have its attack? And how do I get the rest of the attacks?

I suck at this game. I just want to finish it and move on to Final Fantasy I & II

Monsters can only have up to three normal skills plus one additional secret one. They cannot learn new skills beyond the ones they already have.

Bear in mind that you can also poach excess Hydras for some nice items that will appear in Fur Shops.

Hyrudras:
Blood Sword (drain sword)
Scorpion Tail (a porwerful flail)

Hydras:
Setiemson (perfume that gives invisibilty and haste)
Rubber Suit (best normal clothing, gives immunity to lightning)

Tiamats:
Ryozan Silk (Dancer weapon)
Whale Whisker (a powerful stick weapon)

I appreciate the information but that doesn't really answer my question. Perhaps I wasn't clear enough or I just dont get it.

So the dragon has one attack, the tripple head bite attack thing. When I put a guy with monster skill next to the hydra, it can use the bracelet attack, the one with the breath and all. But thats it, it can only use those two attacks. If I move the guy with monster skill, the hydra goes back to only knowing one attack.

My question is, how do I get the other attacks? Does the guy with the monster skill have to hang out next to hydra for it to use its other attacks? Oh and do I just keep waiting for the eggs until I get the good monsters or is there some trick to it or something?

Every type of monster has just one hidden ability. The Hyudra that used Triple Bracelet when another unit standed next to it with Monster Skill on is its only hidden attack and can only be unleashed when that unit is standing next to it. I hope that helps.

I should add that not every monster has three normal attacks. Based on your description, you seem to have a Hyrudra (which are orange). I'll list all the attacks that the Hydra class can have:

Hyrudra
Triple Attack
Triple Bracelet (hidden skill)

Hydra
Triple Attack
Triple Flame
Triple Thunder (hidden skill)

Tiamat
Triple Bracelet
Triple Flame
Triple Thunder
Dark Whisper (hidden skill)

Note that Hyrudras have only two skills at most. Hydras have up to three and Tiamats have up to four. So you're better off breeding Tiamats and Hydras.

OHHHHHHHHHHH....haha
So I gotta weight until it lays a good monster to have the rest of the attacks? And the hidden skill is the one where you have the guy with monster skill next to it.. I think I got it. Thank you.

Okay. One last question. To get a tiamat, will a hyudra lay it or do I have to way for a hydra which will then lay a tiamat?

I'm pretty sure that you can get a Tiamat even from a Hyrudra, but rarely. Once you get a Hydra, you should poach/dismiss the Hyrudra and breed from the Hydra instead.

Hydras are black colored and Tiamats are gold colored. They are the best monsters to have in your party IMHO. :D

You're welcome. :)

The rules of breeding and Monster Skills applies equally to any other generic monster class.

is the type of monster you get from the egg randomly determined? I mustve gotten 10 of the same kind of monsters and still no black hydras. Is there a way to increase the chances of getting the hydra? (ie. higher level, low brave, etc)

It's random. Can you go to two adjacent cities that won't trigger battles? You can walk between them until you eventually get a Hydra.

heres a Hint. Keep a few monsters so that you'll get a few Eggs at once. if you see a Black Egg or one thats almost White keep that one because its probably a Hydra or Tiamat. the yellow/gold Eggs are probly just more Hyrudra.

the best way is to have a few Monsters Laying eggs though because it gives you more eggs and more chance to get the Monster you want.
