Final Fantasy 1, 2, 3 (NES/Famicom); 4, 5, 6 (SNES, Super Famicom)
7, 8, 9 (Playstation); 10, 10-2 (PS2)
11 (online only, computer, plans for XBox 360); 12 (in production, PS2)
Anthologies = 5, 6, depending on area of release, can also include 4 (PSX); Chronicles = 4, Chrono Trigger (PSX)
Dawn of Souls/Origins = 1, 2 (GBA/PSX, respectively); FFIVA = 4 (GBA)
1/2/4 released on Wonderswan also

Final Fantasy Legend 1, 2, 3 are actually the Seiken Dentetsu series in Japan, named changed to Final Fantasy for name recognition (Gameboy); Mystic Quest also on GB; Tactics (PSX), Tactics Advanced (GBA)

Final Fantasy VI was released as FFIII in North America
Final Fantasy IV was released as FFII in North America
Final Fantasy III remains unreleased in North America, plans for a DS release

All numbers are based on Japanese releases, and if there's more, then it doesn't really matter... unless it does.

Final Fantasy Unlimited is an anime that was made by Square, and is based off a completely different world, but had many of the same Final Fantasy stand-bys, such as Cid, and the Airship. Based off of name recognition mostly, such as all the Final Fantasies have different worlds and plotlines, except X and X-2, which are direct sequels (plotwise). Some of the worlds have the same names, but outside of world, gameplay and region of time (most FFs are based on Feudal Japan and Feudal Europe), they are different, and each is unique... in its own way. For example, FFIV and FFIX are both based in Terra/Gaia (Latin for "Earth")

Besides the FF stuff mentioned early there are also the 2 movies Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within and Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. There is also the game Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerebus (i think that was the name) that is going to be a future release.
