Went to a Chinese restaurant in town today, only the local one, little old-fashioned town.

Looking through the menu, what do I spot...

"Kupo Chicken"! :D

So there I am eating my moogle meat, gentle piano music on in the background, and a piano rendition of "Melodies of Life" from FF9 comes on

I guess there's an FF9 fan working in there somewhere XD

Have you ever / often spotted such random unexpected FF references in real life?

Best I've had is hearing "Hikari" in an asian restaurant. Of course it was a Hikaru Utada CD playing, so it didn't really surprise me.

Aww, that kind of makes me with I wasn't a vegetarian!

A fair percentage of my school's band is obsessed with Final Fantasy. I remember we were mulling around before a concert once, and someone tripped over a tuba case. Someone else immediately burst out in the victory fanfare. It was pretty much the greatest thing ever!

Oh another thing in band: Part of our 7th Grade (I'm not in 7th) song, it sounds a LOT like it. The song is called Knights of the Realm. It seems a smidge suspicious... But I doubt there's anything intentional... But still!!!

They play the FF7 and FF8 battle themes over TV in the huge college basketball league here in the Philippines. I don't know if most people know it's the themes, but the Sound Guy is probably proud of his inside joke. :)

During Open Days at my high school, I took parents around the school. Every time I went into the music department, my friend started to play a piece from FF: Aeris' Theme, Julia, The Winner, Ami, Suteki Da Ne and Eyes On Me..to name a few.

This isn't really a sneaky reference, but when I bought Advent Children (21st April) my sister said ''More Final Fantasy?'' & I responded ''yeah sure, why not?''. The person behind the counter agreed & had a smile on his face.
I could tell he liked the series, for Final Fantasy less certainly isn't more.

Did my bit towards this kind of thing unintentionally a couple of days ago!

We were out at the pub watching England play in the World Cup. First goal to our side - just a couple of seconds later - my phone rings. FF victory fanfare - well timed :D

Sadly, nobody could hear it over all the cheering :(

people at my school say sometimes "don't cry" before the FFVII AC movie came out and when i had to watch the movie with my sister
*she made me :( * And when the three scary people showed up and one of them said "don't cry yazoo" and then yazoo said to loz "don't cry loz" *they are scary! mostly kadaj is*

I was like oh no i thought of school when they said that.

And people at my school called me Yuna from FFX-2 after i cut my hair

And one time in class, the music we were listening to was One Winged Angel from AC, I was like Ahh!! :(

I can play it on cello. It's insanely easy. Unfortunately, no, I haven't seen or heard any FF references.

I was watching cricket on Sky Sports and a similar tune from Macalania woods was playing in the background. The only difference was the instrument-a guitar.

Hey, this thread seems to have done well :) Made it all the way to July, nice.

I just recently remembered one :D I was sat outside a pub in Dalton-in-Furness a few months ago (shortly after FF:AC was released here in the UK) and there was a puppy running around, the people had obviously just got him as their friends were all like "coo, how cute". And then one of the parents said "Reno, come here" and I was all "WTF!!!" *double-take action* :XD

I'm quite shy in real life so I didn't have the guts to ask where Rude was.

Other than that I'm the main instigator of that kind of thing around here. I'll frequently play Overclocked remixes of FF tunes loudly in the car on the way home (it's also a rebellion against the headbanging stuff people keep thumping past with), and my ringtone has been Loz's victory fanfare for most of the year.
