so I'm lookin through the posts here at eoff and I just saw one titled:girls who play FF, and for the first time in my life I realized that in my ideal relationship my g/f or wife would have to be a gamer. Whether a hardcore or amature wouldn't matter but at least someone who will play. Most of my g/f's in life to this point either don't play at all, or only have the patience and/or hand/eye coordination to play tetris. But just once I'd love to find a girl who will kick my butt in a game then take a whoopin, and have a good time doin it. I mean how can someone really understand how I can sit and play a game for an entire day, unless they've done it themselves?? I once dated a girl who could beat me in Madden. That was always fun. Thoughts anyone???

Finding a girl who could beat me at Burnout AND Age of Empires 2 would be hard.

Yeah, it is pretty awesome to be with a girl who is really good at video games. Even if she is into, like, FFX and stuff. I'll keep her anyway :)

The notion of a "girl gamer" has for a long time been somewhat of a joke among those who play games seriously. The truth is that women are one of the largest growing demographics who play video games. In fact, I am part of a Day of Defeat clan, and in our server we usually get a decent turn-out of women -- I would say around 10-20% of the overall players. This is interesting because first person shooters are not usually associated with holding interest with women.

In response to the topic, it is not unlikely that you would find a significant other who shares your passion with video games.

That's OK because Joe is a n00b.

Calliope
02-24-2006, 09:35 PM
That makes it worse though, because it means he wants to spend even more time playing STUPID VIDEO GAMES instead of writing me sonnets and rearranging the constellations.

Well, that's because we were laughing too much because of that boxer guy, Steve's dance dodging! :p

Anyway, yeah, I think I'd like to marry a gamer. xD

Both me and Dan are gamers and we help each other out all the time, mainly on WoW. We joke that we have matching 'His & Hers' mounts instead of 'His & Hers' towels or bathrobes :D

It would be nice, but I would like any girl that would let me even near video games.

She would have to be able to beat the Castlevania arcade game, Haunted Castle.

Yes. Only then would negotiations be open.

I beat Del Murder at Mario Party. He didn't seem too happy about it though...

I want him to start playing FFXI so we can get married and my character can get a pretty dress and a ring, but he refuses to get the game and all he wants to do is play girly games like FFX-2. :(

I wouldn't mind, but it would hardly be the be-all and end-all when looking for a partner. I mean, seriously, most girls in our age-range these days are becoming gamers anyway, so it's not like it's a huge narrow-down.

I would be more concerned about other things and would be happily willing to sacrifice "gamer" for "able to commit" because I'm pretty sure there are more of the former than the latter, at least in the age range I'm in.

My husband and I both game, although we play different genres. We even play completely different systems. It's nice though to have someone who understands why you just spent hours completing one menial task...:D

It'd be fun marrying a gamer but I don't care, as long as she doesn't care that I do play PC games then :p

I wanted to and I did. She might not be as stuck on it as me, but that's still the better than nothing.

I wouldn't want to!! Then I'd have to share playing time and we'd have to fight over who gets to play when. Unless he's really stinky and rich. Oh no wait. Stinking rich. :choc2:

Gaming should be a hobby, not a lifestyle. If it's getting in the way of a relationship then punt it to one side. What's more important, getting to level 60 on WoW, or contined procreation of the species?

hmm, tough call...

It'd be cool marrying some1 who could play agmes as much/well as I do, and if she could kick my butt and dethrone me from my favorite game, I'd be in love.

Ashley Schovitz

Oh yeah I'm married to one. Nick thought that most girls didn't play video games, well I guessed he's been surprised.

I don't want to marry, specifically, a gamer, but if the person I wanted to marry just happened to be one, then that's fine. It's not like it's a big deal, or even a turn on to be a gamer. Besides, I don't want to get married anyway so blah blah nljdfkjsr.

I don't think I'd specifically look for a gamer, but I'd have a hard time getting along in a marriage with someone who disliked videogames completely.

A girl being into gaming is a total plus in my book. Its not something that is a prerequisite to a relationship, but it could certainly make one better.

Only game my wife ever got into was Animal Crossing.

As long as she knows what to do with the joystick, that's all that matters.

Yeah, that's going to get me places.

My first girlfriend was really into DDR, Guitar Freaks and Drummania. I never got into the last two, but I started playing DDR almost as soon as I started going out with her. I got better than her within a fortnight and kept playing long after she got bored of it and long after we broke up. :D

I don't play anymore though. It's pretty camp.

I probably wouldn't marry a pro-gamer, but anything short of that is fine. It's not something I go out and look for though. That's just stupid.

I wouldn't look for someone who plays video games. If they do, then it's a plus. Because around here people either play games or just think they're "for kids".

I'd marry a gamer. But it has to be female. With an attractive personality. And how I miss that..

Zeldy
02-25-2006, 09:42 PM
It would be a plus if they did, but its not something Im looking at for persifically. "HAY, LYK OMG UR HOT, DO U PLAY VIDEOGAMES??? LOLOLO" nah.

But its always nice to have something in common.

I know its a strange concept finding a woman who wants to marry a gamer but it can be done. I am engaged to Kitten  from this forum and have been for over 6 months over a year ago now when we first met I was brutally honest and admitted that even though I had been suicidal under a year before one of the few things that kept me going (with a little help from Xander too) was a computer game I play online it's a beta test and I still play. I also was brutally honest about the fact that my ex had tried to change me from being a gamer. It doesnt mean the woman you meet has to be a gamer she just has to be able to accept that you are and it probably in all honesty going to change.

At the end of the day we are who we are and if we are gamers then women have to accept that fact but I believe there has to be certain compromises from us towards them too. (or just make them start playing the games you play to spend more time on both the games and with her ;) lol)

You couldn't take me. I'll take out Voldo and waste you all, all of you! And I'd still love to date a gamer. Especially one who trashtalks during the game, that kind of fun can go on for hours.,

hmm Gimpy (what me and my friends call voldo) my best combat against that would be to use Knightmare or Siegfried (actually I'm better with Siegfried)

Nighmare and sigfried are fun, I prefer Nightmare though. And Kilik and Cervantes. I suddenly want to play that now.
