View Full Version : Oh lord, more Firefox Quicktime problems

I've looked at the other threads and they didn't help.

Mp3s worked in Firefox before I reinstalled Windows. I've since reinstalled Quicktime, checked my Quicktime settings, uninstalled Quicktime, and installed Quicktime Alternative, and checked my Quicktime Settings again. Now, instead of getting the pop-up error window talking about MIME settings, I don't get anything. Nothing comes up, and 'Done' is on my taskbar.

Baloki says:

Disabling ad-block should fix this, else he needs to uninstall quicktime, make sure no instances of firefox are running and re-install Quicktime again.

Upgrading to the latest version of adblock could also solve the problem.

I updated AdBlock, tried it, and the error started coming up again. Disabled AdBlock, tried it, same error occurred. Closed down Firefox, uninstalled Quicktime Alternative (because Quicktime was already uninstalled from when I installed QA), reinstalled, and I get the same error again.

I have this exact same problem. I've tried reinstalling Quicktime, reinstalling Firefox, heck even reinstalling Flashplayer, but I can't fix it. If anyone can help would be greatly appreciated :)

This might help you KB. :p

Follow these instructions to remove and reset the plugins:

Close Firefox
Navigate to C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\Plugins\
Delete all of the npqtplugin.dll files: npqtplugin.dll, npqtplugin2.dll, etc.
Navigate to C:\Program Files\Quicktime\Plugins\
Delete all of the npqtplugin.dll files
Reset your Quicktime mime settings

And if your MIME setting are giving you trouble (I'll assume you haven't already looked at something for those :p) then try these settings:

Quicktime 7 and Alternative 1.5

Close all instances of Firefox
Go to Start > Control Panel > Quicktime 7
Go to the Audio Tab
If using Alternative, select "General Midi" under "Music Synthesizer"
Go to the Browser tab and click "Mime Settings"
Enable the file types you wish Quicktime to handle. Do not enable Flash.
Click OK
Go to the Streaming tab
Choose the connection that best matches your current Internet connection speed
Click OK
