Hi, I don't know if this post really belongs in this forum, but I am in need of some help. I am trying to make a video of a playstation 2 game, like a music video. I have a video camera and a ps2, but I was wondering how I am supposed to capture footage from my ps2. If anyone knows, then please reply or pm me. Thanks.

BTW Im using Pinnacle Studio 9 to edit my videos, if that helps

You need either a tuner card* or a video acquisition card* to be able to plug your ps2 to your computer to record the video. If you use your video camera to record what the TV is showing, it's gonna look like crap.

*USB devices work too.

You could just rip the FMV footage off the disc and use that (they're pre-recorded)

PS2 -> USB video acquisition device/tuner -> PC

Do you have any clue as to where I can find such a device? I want one ;).

If I had had more money, I'd have bought either <a href="http://www.plextor-europe.com/products/px-tv402u.asp?choice=ConvertX%20PVR%20PX-TV402U">this one</a> or <a href="http://www.plextor-europe.com/products/px-m402u.asp?choice=ConvertX%20PX-M402U">that one</a>, just because Plextor only gave me good products so far.

Since I was poor, I bought <a href="http://www.adstech.com/products/USBAV-708/intro/USBAV-708_intro.asp?pid=USBAV-708">that one</a> instead.

Can you capture the video with a different program than the one bundled with the device, or can that program encode to other formats than the ones listed?

On the one I'm using, capturing can be done by both the one that was bundled and the one that's on my laptop (I'll find the names when I'm back home), and (I didn't try, but I'm pretty sure it would work) with Fraps. I don't think I managed to get it to work with nandub/virtualdub(mod). The main problem with mine is that the encoding is done by the computer, which requires good specs.

You could save it as uncompressed video and encode it later :D?
