It was changed for AC. Made to look more advanced like the characters.

Gets a 7 from me, design isnt great, but some funky colours.
I would of liked the Box art to be that picture of Cloud and Sephiroth standing side by side.

I thought it would have been better if Sephiroth hadnt appaered on the front cover, maybe Kadja and co? But I guess with Sephiroth on the front cover, they know that people who havent seen the movie yet and are Sephiroth fanboys would purchase it immediatly (sp).

It's not actually a representation of Meteor, although it's made to look similar in order to recall the original game.
A closer look (http://www.square-haven.com/games/misc/ffvii-ac/index/logo.jpg) reveals that the main body of the "meteor" is actually Midgar, with the tail most likely a representation of Edge.

well spotted, thanks, i like it better now, even though it still could be improved
