Is SeeD, and no, is the same pronunciation. You can go to the official page to check about the word "SeeD"

It's 'seed'. If you go to http://wingheart.rinoa.nu/ you can hear the pronounciations for a whole bunch of names.

The written word is SeeD, the pronunciation is seed, like always

Ha, my sister and I have always said "See" "D" only because they made the "D" capitol, but it doesn't really matter.

Where can I find the pronunciation for "Hyne"?

TheSpoonyBard

I don't think the capitalisation is of any importance. There are instances of random capitalisations in the game, one being the sign in Galbadia Station. It reads "GalBaDia STaTioN".

Garden. Seed. There's a pretty obvious running theme there. SeeD = Seed.

seed, because they were supposed to be the seeds of the garden. But they made it "SeeD" so it didn't look like "seed" therefore it requires thought

The capital ‘D’ is for distinction.

But you should confirm if it is "Ine" or "Aine" anyway.

FE, it is pronounced like hine, and this thread is about the pronunciation of SeeD, not hyne.

but it did have something to do with pronounciation

Laugh at face of danger, what is the title of the thread? is it pronunciation generally?

I always thought seed, because you know seeds that grow in a garden.

Duh I know that, :rolleyes2 but I've always said "See" "D" since the beginning so it's kinda hard to adjust, but I'm getting there...:D

See D.

It is commom English knowledge. Ask any English teacher.

Hyyne as H-Aine as you say would be spelled like "Paine" which is pronounced pain not "pain-eh."

So Hyne would be Hine because 'y' makes an 'i' sound.

And without the 'e' it would be pronounced Hin (like hen or han)

Exactly. How could you forget the torture scene? It makes it pretty obvious there, as well.

Yes! I was thinking about that scene the whole time while looking at this thread. That's why I think that SeeD is pronounced 'seed. It represents growth and what not. I still don't know why they decided to capalize the D, though. Maybe they just felt like it...

Back when I first played the game I called it See-D, like 'CD'. After a few playthroughs I sort of thought that it was logical that Garden would raise Seeds, not CDs :D

it is SeeD because SeeD 'grow' within the garden and a garden is usually where plants gorw so its probably SeeD, at least thats what i've always said.

Obviously because Square wanna to hide the true story of FF8 behind the falsified one(as opposed to what people think).

SeeD pronounced seed as in plant seed this is all explained thoroughly in the game as the SeeDs are trained in the Gardens to defeat the sorceresses. SeeD and Garden isn't that enough of a give away?

Future Esthar
03-15-2006, 01:37 PM
I was just explained the capitalization thing, not the pronunciation.
By the way,I will only believe that Hyne is pronounced Ine when Square confirm it was intended to be spelled this way.
Translations sometimes could be wrong.

TheAbominatrix
03-15-2006, 01:55 PM
Well Square isnt likely to say anything about it, so there's no sense in arguing about the pronunciation, and no sense in asking us if you'll only believe Square, eh?

Future Esthar

Isn´t that site about the confirmation made by Square of some pronunciations?

TheAbominatrix
03-15-2006, 10:07 PM
I'm sorry, which site about confirmation?

I'm pretty sure Square has never gone out of their way to clarify any pronunciations.

Japanese is a phonetic language, so there isn't too much room for ambiguity when it comes to pronounciations. Hyne is spelled ハイン, which is ha-i-n, pronouced "high-n."

I just say 'seed' as in 'planting a seed in the garden.' There is no right or wrong way to say it. Its like the whole Tidus thread, say it the way you wish.

Future Esthar
03-16-2006, 01:30 PM
I also think it´s Ha-i-n.
Thanks.
On the site we see that Odine is spelled Od-ai-ne.
Interesting.

Yeah, I've been convinced for a while, but my sister and I have always said "See" "D" but I do agree that it's really supposed to be pronounced "Seed", but we still say "See" "D". :D

Hyne only exists in your little theories. Pronounce it the way YOU want to pronounce it.

The Great Hyne is mentioned in the game. I pronounce it 'hi-nn', like 'vine' in the word 'grapevine'.

TheSpoonyBard

Rinoa is referred to as Hyne's descendant when she returns from the Ragnarok, and the Hyne is mentioned in the Information section of the Tutorial.

GREAT HYNE – Creator of mankind and believed to be the first Sorceress. Calling a sorceress the Great Hyne's descendent shows great respect.
