I finally laid my hands on the game, and I noticed that the dancer in Baron doesn't strip. So my question is as follows: did you notice any similar things in the game (details that were known to be there in the original Japanese version and now are no longer)?

Well, the developer's room and the "Smut" is in the game, so that's pretty surprising really:cat:

Well, Edge isn't as much of a pervert, though he may've only been portrayed that way in the J2e translation :choc2:

Kishi says the J2e translation isn't as accurate as they would make believe, but I haven't laid hand on it myself like I did with Sky Render's FF VI translation, so I really cannot tell.

Most fan translations probably aren't, I'd imagine. :cat:

Yeah. Though it's hard to believe any FF IV fantranslation isn't more accurate than the old FF II US, they did a much better job with the Advance version.

The story makes more sense in the GBA version. Everything is explained better.

Well, the GBA script is pretty much the same as the Chronicles script. (From what I noticed.)

I thought it was the same too. What was explained better?

Silly me. I forgot about the Chronicles version, because I never beat it. But the script is still not the same. In the Chronicles version Kain, from what I remember, never mentions that his father was a Dragoon and he died when he was still young.

Another difference from what I believe is in the Japanese version: the bard was originally called Gilbert, but the GBA version still says he's called Edward.

Really, i've only played the chronicles version and I thought I remember somewhere being told that Kain's father was a dragoon.

Another difference from what I believe is in the Japanese version: the bard was originally called Gilbert, but the GBA version still says he's called Edward.A lot of the incorrect names have been preserved. Kain, Rydia, Golbez, etc. Chalk it up to nostalgia. What made the FFI GBA translation so great was that the translators were able to let go of the old versions and focus on what was actually correct.

Yeah. I wonder why, though. I mean, by now I suppose most old-school fans that are still interested in the game know those are not the real names, and possible new fans are...well, new, so either they don't know about the FF II US names or they simply don't care.
