chaos: Discuss Wrestlemania in here if you're going to be watching the show, or if you're just another wrestling fan. :)

Rubedo: Here's my overview of the event and the matches. Don't worry, none of these are spoilers, as all of them are confirmed matches. This is what I posted at another forum (link to that post (http://www.forums.prowrestling.com/showthread.php?p=1124688#post1124688)) Remember, this is the card so far, and there will probably only be one or two more matches added, considering Wrestlemania is in 15 days.

There are still three weeks until Wrestlemania 22, but already, tons of people are expecting one hell of a show. The WWE is wise in putting some matches on Saturday Night's Mainevent, so they will not harm Wrestlemania. So, with the matches left, we have matches that will guarantee success, and other matches that have the potential to be great. This is my take on how Wrestlemania 22 will go, and how great the matches will be.

<a href="http://:bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou:"><img src="http://i1.:bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou:/rqx5j4.jpg" border="0" alt="Image hosting by TinyPic"></a>
The crowd reaction is enough to get people watching this match. The buildup has been very unpredictable, and so many things can happen at the grandest stage of 'em all. Perhaps a heel turn for John Cena? Or maybe he will take all the boo’s, and still come out on top. Besides the crowd reaction, which will be gold, there is also the match. Triple H always goes to the top of his game at Wrestlemania, and it shows with all the fantastic matches he's pulled off (vs. Undertaker/Wrestlemania 17, vs. Chris Jericho/Wrestlemania 18, vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Benoit/Wrestlemania 20, Fatal Fourway/Wrestlemania 16). Even with Batista, who IMO wasn't ready to Mainevent Wrestlemania, Triple H was able to pull off an above average Mainevent. John Cena will hopefully try his best at this Wrestlemania, reminded of the failure of Wrestlemania 21. These two might be able to mesh, but regardless, I think they will be able to pull off a good Main Event.

<a href="http://:bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou:"><img src="http://i1.:bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou:/rqx5qp.jpg" border="0" alt="Image hosting by TinyPic"></a>This match will be on par with Wrestlemania 20's Triple Threat Match. Kurt Angle and Orton have good chemistry from what I've seen, and with Mysterio in it, you can be guaranteed some fun with it. This match also has a quite unpredictable outcome. Will Kurt Angle retain, as his reign hasn't been too long. Or will Randy Orton hit the RKO out of nowhere, and become the World Heavyweight Champion again? Maybe Mysterio will pull out an Underdog win, and celebrate in the ring with Chris Benoit and Chavo. Either way, we know this will be a good match.

<a href="http://:bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou:"><img src="http://i1.:bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou:/rqx5yc.jpg" border="0" alt="Image hosting by TinyPic"></a>
I personally think this match is a mistake. Every year, you can expect Shawn Michaels to make something magical at Wrestlemania. I know that Mr. McMahon's Wrestlemania bouts have been actually pretty good, but he's only getting older. Shawn Michaels may not have that much time left in the wrestling business, so he should go out at Wrestlemania in another magical match. But then again, this match still has potential. Whether Vince has been working it out, or juicing it up, he's in shape. And Michaels can pull a great match out of everybody. Give this match a gimmick, and it will turn out even better. This match will boost buy rates, as the audience has been eating up this feud. Here's hoping that if this match gets a stipulation, it's "I Quit".

<a href="http://:bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou:"><img src="http://i1.:bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou:/rqx660.jpg" border="0" alt="Image hosting by TinyPic"></a>
This one is another one of those guaranteed good matches. Even when Foley's not in shape, he's been able to pull off good matches with the worst of them. In his blog, he stated that he’d be going to the gym, so that means he will come to Wrestlemania in shape. As for Edge, he said in an interview that he wanted to make this match special, and with two men who've been in an endless amount of hardcore/ladder matches, I'm sure they'll make a great match. Expect a lot of bloodshed, and basically a lot of spots. The best part about this match is that I'll be happy for whoever goes over in this one.

<a href="http://:bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou:"><img src="http://i1.:bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou:/rqx6dj.jpg" border="0" alt="Image hosting by TinyPic"></a>
This has been given some decent buildup. But after SNME, I'm sure WWE will concentrate on it more. RVD will most likely pull off some crazy stops in this, and with Shelton Benjamin, it only sweetens the deal. Ric Flair might not have much experience in ladder matches, but the TLC against Edge was great, so I'm sure he'll do great this time around as well. With the addition of three Smackdown superstars, I'm sure it will be great, because Smackdown can only add to the match in a good way. Spotfest or not, this match won't be as good as last year's, which was overflowing with talent, but it won't be too far behind.

<a href="http://:bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou:"><img src="http://i1.:bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou:/rqx6og.jpg" border="0" alt="Image hosting by TinyPic"></a>
These two squared off before, in a match that ended in a Disqualification. With Mark Henry apparently "screwed" out of his title shot, he decided to take out his anger on Undertaker, by splashing him through a table. That's how this feud started. Their first match was pretty good, and everybody can admit that Mark Henry's improving. His "sexual chocolate" gimmick was horrible, and instead using the moniker "The World's Strongest Man", he's garnered more success. If they were able to do good on Smackdown, I'm sure that at Wrestlemania, in a Casket Match, they will do even better. This match does, though, have a chance of failure, but it's quite slim, considering that they've both been doing good in these past few months. This is a match with a lot of potential, and hopefully they will be able to bring glory back to the "Casket Match" gimmick, considering the failure it's received in 2005 (Undertaker vs. Heidenreich... need I say more?)

<a href="http://:bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou:"><img src="http://i1.:bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou:/rqx6v9.jpg" border="0" alt="Image hosting by TinyPic"></a>
A match that is a guaranteed success, considering it has two top stars in it. There match on Smackdown was great, and had fast paced action which I will also expect at Wrestlemania, except it will be better. What this feud is lacking right now is proper buildup. It has some, but JBL needed to address Benoit better this Smackdown. After SNME, they'll be able to garner attention with the two weeks they will have to hype up the match. Benoit is always great, so we can expect something really special at Wrestlemania, where he will really give it his all.

<a href="http://:bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou:"><img src="http://i1.:bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou::bou:/rqx729.jpg" border="0" alt="Image hosting by TinyPic"></a>
Say what you want, but in my head, this match has received a lot of buildup. Chris Masters and Kane have had grudges against each other, and before, I was scared they would square off at Wrestlemania. Instead, the WWE Thought it over, and decided to make it a tag-match. Masters and Carlito already have great chemistry, whether it's them working together, or Carlito screwing over Masters. Carlito has been improving, and if he proves to be a success in this match, he will get a big push. Big Show and Kane have also been doing well separately, and they are great Tag Champs. Hopefully they will lose, and Chris Masters and Carlito will revive the ever-so-dead Tag Division. If both teams give it their all, then we could see another match at this Wrestlemania that will be getting good feedback.

Please don't let Cena vs. HHH be the last match. No matter who goes over in that match, it'll be an extremely weak way to end WMXXII. I really hope Booker T. is the final man to qualify for MITB. Not having him on the card will be sheer lunacy.

Also, Mickie vs. Trish surely has to be added. It's more interesting than 50% of the male fueds.

chaos: I want the Triple-Threat to be last too, but I'm pretty sure HHH vs. John Cena will be the final match. I'm actually looking forward to it though. The crowd reaction, for one, will be huge. And secondly, HHH can carry anybody to a good match. I'm sure John Cena won't be any different.

Rubedo: The matches that I think will be added are Mickie James vs. Trish Stratus, and Paul London vs. Gregory Helms (Paul London won a Fatal Fourway #1 Contendership match for the Cruiserweight Championship).

chaos: Well in an interview, Carlito said the match was last. Plus, it's always billed as last on WWE.com. Trust me it is.

Rubedo: I think Mysterio deserves to be in the main event. He's a hard worker, for sure, and has had great matches with nearly everyone. Remember his series of matches with the late, great, Eddie Guerrero? (RIP). I haven't missed one of them.

chaos: Chances are that MNM will either have a match on Heat, face the Mexicools at Wrestlemania, or London will have a match with Gregory Helms early, and the face the Mexicools and MNM in a Tag-Team Turmoil match.

My predictions are that Rey will pull off the storybook ending in his match. HHH will beat Cena. Edge will lose to Foley. In the MIB match Ric Flair pulls off the dirtiest upset and win the match.McMahon will win against Michaels. Taker will pull off the casket match with out a daubt.JBL will win the Us Title but through cheating. And the tag match can go either way.

chaos: I agree with you about the first two matches you stated. I just hope Triple H breaks that darn disgrace of a WWE title with his sledgehammer. That would indeed be a Wrestlemania moment. I don't think Edge will lose to Mick Foley though, as Foley loves pushing young talent, and Edge is one hell of a heel (badguy). Plus, they are friends in real life too (In Mick Foley's book, he loves Edge and Christian and the Hardy Bros.).

Trowa: I think either RVD or Ric Flair will win MITB. If RVD does, he could cash it in at ECW: One Night stand. *sits and stares and sits and stares*

chaos: I think Michaels will beat McMahon, and that Taker will obviously win. I also think Chris Benoit will retain because he just got the belt. As for the Tag-Match, I'm rooting for the young talent, Chris Masters and Carlito.

Rubedo: Well, he was at No Way Out, and he said his tricept was healed, which means he will be back soon. I think he'll be at Wrestlemania, and will either cut a promo, or watch the Triple Threat match. As for Batista's ring work, you've got to admit, it has improved. He's cut 3 great matches with Triple H, had a good street fight with JBL, a good match with Eddie Guerrero (RIP), and will probably come off stronger after getting better.

Most of his PPV offerings have been pretty good, plus the tag-matches with Mysterio have been good as well. Plus, the guy is extremely over with the crowd, so you can tell he's been playing his character well.

Stone Cold's little return to SNMI was well worth my time. Anyway...my only real two interests at Wrestlemaina this year, are the Triple Threat match and Vince and HBK's fight. IMO Triple H has gotten older...and it shows...in the ring(he seems a little fat and slow moving). I'm now really looking forward to JBL vs. Chris Benoit, the John Cena vs. Triple H has spiced up a bit, and Orton took a step up and is indeed one of the top heels in the WWE. Both Main Events are now looking good, and if a Trish/Mickie fued comes up at Wrestlemania, I have a feeling it will be great.

Albedo: *laughs maniacally*

chaos: Man, I'm so pumped for Wrestlemania. I'm so excited!!! :D

Trowa: Every part of the show was one of my favorites. Main Event vs. Main Event was a great match, and plus the outburst at the end was great. The Foley segment was great 'cause it got everyone into it, and plus provided two big bumps- the thumbtacks to the face, and the conchairto. In the Beer Drinking Contest, JBL was gold on the mike, and Stone Cold and him both had great chemistry. It was hilarious. The Women's Match was good, and the division is coming off strong. Mickie's heel turn was great, and she was hilarious, especially when she started screaming "Who's crazy now?". Undertaker's segment was good 'cause both him and Henry exchaned good blows, and the chokeslam + tombstone to davairi were good. And finally, the street fight was amazing, with good chemistry, nice buildup to the spots, and a good ending. Great show. *sits and stares and sits and stares*

chaos: The only one problem I had, if this could be a problem, is that Boogeyman vs. Booker T was added to the Wrestlemania card. Booker's great... but Boogeyman.... well, we haven't seen him wrestle. All he's done is the Pumphandle slam. Maybe if he can do good, then it'll be quite a good match. Still, it won't take too much from the great card. :D

Rubedo: I sincerely hope they keep Lashley off the card. The guy is confused and inexperienced. Burchill should be added to MITB.

Lashley is one of Smackdowns best rising stars. He has the look the skills. And damnit you took that out of my sig didnt you.

Trumpet Thief

chaos: 'Course I took it out of your signature. It's a funny quote. :D

Trowa: Lashley's just a giant man. That's all there is to it. Whether he's been working out or juicing it up (I think he's a pure athlete though. After all, he is a NCAA champ), that's all he's good for. Sure he's got some good belly to belly suplexes, but what else? In both of his matches that were above-average, he was carried. At No Way Out, him and JBL pulled off a pretty good match, but he was clueless most of the time. His selling of punches is decent, but everything else is horrid. He gets up after two seconds, and then proceeds to go into "Superman mode".

chaos: Plus, in hismatch with Lashley, he literally stood there for about a minute before doing his next move. He needs to learn how to work only a certain part of the body in the match, instead of mindless suplexing and irish whips all around. He's got potential, but he'll take quite a bit of time before he gets to the top. Brock Lesnar on the other hand- he deserved to be pushed to the top. He was phenomenal, man! :D

Albedo: Haha. I hear so many idiotic comparisons between Lashley and Lesnar. Lesnar was a way better athlete. He sold better, had match psychology, was a pretty good mic worker, and just gave it his all. Lashley's using his muscles to get him a spot on Smackdown, and that isn't right. *Laughs maniacally*

But he reminds me of Lesnar. I agree he does need improvement but in a hew years given the right push he could end up where Batista was.

Trumpet Thief

chaos: True. That's what I'm saying- he can become the next Lesnar, but he'll need time to do it.

Rubedo: Now I'm going to wait until a few other people post, so this doesn't turn into some back and forth kinda thing. I suggest you do the same. :D

JBL vs Benoit will be one of the best matches of the night

It sucks that you have to pay to watch Wrestlemania now! oh well I'll download it or something, the best WM is numer 15, the hell in a cell with Big Boss Man and The Undertaker...classic, especially at the end, and Austin vs. The Rock, well 2 of my best wrestlers fighting, that was great. I love Wrestlemania.

chaos: I'm sorry, WM 15? I don't mean to a be an angry coot, but that was among the five worst.

Rubedo: Have you actually seen Boss Man vs. Undertaker? It was horrible. A boring trade of punches for 20 minutes, filled with scraping the other man's head on the steel. And then, at the end, check it out, Ima hang him! It was horrible.

chaos: The only matches actually deemed "Passable" at Wrestlemania 15 could be Shane O Mac vs. Xpac, Triple H vs. Kane, and the Main Event, which truly was great.

Trowa: It's strange.... 1999 and 2000 were excellent years for the WWE, but their Wrestlemania's were horrible. 2001 was a decent year, with the best Wrestlemania by far in it. No Wrestlemania can even match that one. *sits and stares and sits and stares*

Triple H vs Kane wasnt very good. The main event was the only good match. The best wrestlemania so far was 2000 and that was for the TLC. But if youre a technically inclined wrestling style then the one with bret hart vs shawn michaels was very good.

chaos: I said passable, I didn't say great. Kane vs. Triple was while not horrible, not great.

Rubedo: Wrestlemania 2000? That one sucked too. Actually, it sucked even more than 15. Wrestlemania X7's TLC is a lot better, IMO.

chaos: And X7 had a lot of good wrestling as well. As did 21 (not as good, though).

What have you been smokin XD That was my favorite and had the second greatest match in WWE history. The TLC. Though my fav. wrestlemania moment was Shawn Michaels vs Bret Hart. I am an advocate of the extreme wrestling style though so my tastes are bound to be varied.

chaos: Wrestling-wise, my hat goes to Shawn Michaels vs. Bret Hart. But if you're talking about an epic meeting, Stone Cold vs. The Rock was not only a great match, with great croud reaction, but also the point where Stone Cold made the biggest heel turn in WWE history, as well as leaving the audience in shock after he won the match with 10 chairshots to the rock.

Trowa: *sits and stares and sits and stares*

That was the worst to do to his charachter. No one wants a Stone Cold heel and the fans showed it. He wasnt a very good heel as his charachter was a anti hero.That didnt change much. That was also one of the stupidest thing they could have done. "Hi I am Stone Cold and I beat the <img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif"> out of my boss almost daily but I gave that up for no damn reason. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA" That was also not an epic meeting. Two faces doesnt generally work. And in Stone Colds own biography he told of his disdain for that turn.

Trumpet Thief
03-23-2006, 01:11 AM
chaos: Even you know that Stone Cold as a face forever would get stale. Plus, he had already faced most of everybody on the roster, and needed some fresh opponents.

Rubedo: The match was great. You can't argue with that.

It was an good match and the turn was bad because it shouldnt hve just been forced on us like the RKO face turn. It should have been a gradual turn.
