Now its been a long time since I was addicted to an arcade game, like since marvel vs capcom 1&2 & Soul Blade which was long ago. But since then arcades in my area have been really sorry until one of them got Initial D S3. I Love this game on ps1&2 and on psp but the arcade version is like legal crack, everyone has to get some. Then to top it off they put in the new Tekken cab where you can bring a ps2 controller & plug it in the machine! (im in arcade heaven!) Does anyone still go to arcades? If so 4 what?

Arcade frequenter here. IMO arcades are still the #1 place to go for all your gaming needs. A net cafe is a cheap alternative but it doesn't have the right atmosphere. Playing party games with your friends is fun too, but then you don't have the satisfaction of creaming a total stranger. ~

Daytona USA: I absolutely demolish anyone who thinks they can take me on the Advanced track. My consistant 43 second lap times are testimony to my awesomeness. The thing I love about this game is that just about everybody is up for a game so I'm never short of people to play against.

Initial D: I was obsessed with this a little over half a year. With a Battle Level 15 EvoIV, Battle Level 10 Altezza, Akagi specialist S14 and paddock-basher Integra to show for it. I never got good enough to beat anyone that could be considered above average but on the right tracks (Irohazaka DH, Tschuisaka IB, Akagi DH) I could pose quite a challenge for the decent player. This game left me broke for ages ^^

DDR: I thought it was cool at the time. I can do just about every song on Standard and about half the stuff on Heavy.

Soul Calibur 2: The only game I've really immersed myself in. I got up to tournament level at some point but never competed because I peaked just as Tekken 5 was taking over. I still love this game but sadly, I haven't been able to play it recently in the arcades since the only arcade in Sydney with this game closed down.

Tekken 5: I didn't jump on the bandwagon straight away. I stayed devoted to SC2 for a quite a long while before even attempting to play T5. It wasn't until very recently that I've applied myself to this game and my skills are slowly improving.

I enjoy most vertical scrolling shooters like Raiden, Ikaruga, and 1942. Time Crisis 3 is also always fun with a friend. :)

EDIT: Crap, can't believe I forgot Metal Slug.

Pinball Machines. :D

Other than that, Haunted Castle. The Castlevania arcade game. It's so rediculously impossible that I won't be able to rest until I finally beat it.

Or get past level 3.

The D&D arcade titles (http://www.fantasyanime.com/valhalla/ddarcade.htm) were seriously addicting. As were The SFIII games, although I never had my Daigo moment. My favorite time to be at the arcades were during the early 90's Street Fighter years. Arcades are extremely rare nowadays where I live. The last big arcade venue closed down like three years ago.

DDR counts, I guess.

But the only arcade game I really went crazy for was The Simpsons arcade game. It just had a feeling to it that made me want to play it forever. My greatgrandmother used to take me to an arcade every thursday just so I could play it.

Anyone else notice that the little unique symbol for the site in Timber maniac's post is a piece of Magicite?

The only games worth my time at arcades are DDR: Extreme, and the Fast and the Furious.

Notice in the address bar the chocobo head? Instead of a chocobo head it's a piece of Magicite.

That's fantasyanime's favicon. They've had that for ages. I think it's because the FF games were the first to be put on the site. Or they just have a special place in his heart. I originally came across that site ages ago for the Shining Force comic (hilarious). But yeah...

Arcades were put out of business here. But if they were open and accepted credit I'd use 'em ^_^' Pipe-dream that is..

I haven't been addicted to an arcade game, but the arcade game I have had the most fun with would have to be Centipede. :)

I am addicted to all arcade games. They all totally rock, whether as retro as Pacman or as new as revolutionary as DDR, I love them all (and I own any whiteboy on DDR ^_^)

I think RUSH: Extreme Racing beats all. Especially for the time. Sould CAlibur and Time Crisis were fairly fun as well

I haven't gone to an arcade in ages, mostly because they are far from home and, humm...it's strange to see a 26-year-old-girl go crazy in an arcade. ^^
I remember, at age 9 or 10, being just crazy for Wonder Boy III: Monster Land. I had to wait until I was 24 and I had emulators to finish it!

And of course, I am a Metal Slug and D&D arcade fan. But I played those on emulator since the beginning.

That would be none other than drummania.

Anyway, my list consists of:

DDR
GuitarFreaks & drummania (yes, they DO link to each other)
Dance Maniax
ParaParaParadise
Keyboardmania

Raiden
Puzzle Fighter
Rival Schools
Tekken

PS: I'm a buttonmasher when it comes to other fighting games.
