Because it's a better game.

haha no one else seems to think that

Morgoth_Bauglir

because it has more cds that is obvious.
and more if you compare a non-platinum game with a platinum

Yeah, actually a lot of people do. But in all seriousness, its probably more rare. There are a gazillion copies of FFVII out there and not that many of FFIX.

i cant find any final fantasies in the shops anymore which is annoyin, as i have never played 8, i wanna see the hype of 7 and i just love 9.

I know how you feel. I'm having hard time finding a new FFIX myself. My 4th disc is jacked up and I need a new one. It's just so hard to find anotherone.

But Mullet boy is right.

how come they are getting rare? they are popular games so how come i never see them in the shops?

Flying Mullet
03-30-2006, 05:20 PM
They haven't been producing them in years. They also produced less copies of FFIX.

SaintDave

whys that then? cos of the ps2?

crazybayman

Yes, because they're focusing on PS2 games. PS1 games just aren't in demand anymore, except for the rare few who want to try one out, like you wanting FFIX.

The same thing happened to me just last summer. I was finally trying to get my hands on a copy of FFIX, and no one in the city had it in stock, save one store, and it was their last one.

So I guess I was lucky enough to buy the last copy of FFXI for sale in the entire city :p . And it was $35 or $40, which is more than a PS2 greatest hit, because it is somewhat rare. And it's definitely worth that, and more.

SaintDave

so why are they bringing out final fantasy 12 for the ps2 with the ps3 just around the corner?

Flying Mullet
03-30-2006, 06:20 PM
Because there was no PS3 when they started on FFXIII. Most blockbuster games take 3-5 years to develop. That and the fact that there will only be a handful of PS3's available this year while there are millions of PS2's available.

Regular playstation games are no longer in production, and FFIX was the "newest" of Final Fantasys in that vein to be made. Naturally, that should mean there's more of them out there, but...then again, when the PS2 caught the public like a wild fire, it's just not lucrative to mass-produce any of those games. I'd love to say its more rare and higher-priced because it's simply better than FFVIII or FFVII (and it is ;)), but it's probably like that for an amalgam of reasons.

Because it's a better game.

Make a poll of this, which is better FFVII, FFVIII or FFIX, see what the results are...I guarantee FFVII will own.

Flying Mullet

Yeah, because there are FFVII fanboys (http://www.geocities.com/chadmonkey/pipvestite.jpg) that don't know any better. It doesn't rpove one game's better than the other.

You ain't getting mine. Unless you give me a copy of Disc 1 for FFVII. And maybe a copy of FFX, mine freezes on Lulu's speech about how Tidus looks like Chappu.

Hehe, I got my FF9 from a shop for £10. Well....£9.99. Even better! I'd've paid five-fold for it though.

SaintDave

Quindiana Jones

Just luck. It was a year or two ago too though...I'm just glad I never got rid of my PS1 or the game. It works perfect too, and even has the book.

The best. I just remembered. It's also Platinum :D
There's FF9 Platinum on sale on eBay for just under £30 (with P&P). Just thought you'd like to know.

SaintDave

LOWER THE PRICES

I don't consider £30 pricey for a game of it's quality and replay value. I just wish I could remember when I bought it...

marc

but you don't want the platinum version.
The normal version has that pretty Amano artwork on the discs.
Which makes the characters look 12 hundred times cooler than they actually are.

Yes.
