Strangley I have never noticed any first person shooter favorite threads in this forum before, so, even though for the most part I hate these kind of games, I will be the one who starts it. I for one find the best FPS to be 007 Golden eye for the N64. Don't really remember why since I havn't played it for years. But it blows Halo way out of the water.

All time classics are Doom and Duke 3D, come on they started the FPS genre literally. In general there are a range of awsome PS2 FPS games I like such as Unreal Tournament, Killzone, Serious Sam: The Next Encounter, Red Faction and Deus Ex etc.

My favourite FPS of all time is Duke 3D(DOS, windows 95)

Unreal Tournament.

Half-life 2 is still the standard by which I judge all other FPS games. Not surprisingly, most others fail to measure up, although there are a lot of other great FPS games out there.

HL2 is good, but man is it way too linear. Far Cry and Deus Ex are my cup of tea.

Half Life 2. Also, Counter-Strike :)

Medal Of Honor: European Assault is definitely the best First-Person Shooter, hands down. It's glory of World War 2 fighting action puts others to shame.

Golden Eye 007(N64) is still the best one out there.

Don't get me started

Anyway, the best FPS game ever made in the history of mankind is Doom 2.

The only one I was actually remotely good at was that 007 one for the N64, so I guess I'll pick that one. (I never got past the final area. Meh.) :cat:

I still suck at FPSs, so that's most likely why. :p

Oy, I'm horrible at these games...

I could say KillZone, but overall eh.. I like my military to be trained to jump.

I'm going to say Metroid because it had a lock on feature that made my life easy. Unless you count that as adventure, then I will say Half-Life.

TimeSplitters.

And why is anybody mentioning Medal Of Honour in the wake of Call Of Duty is beyond me.

amen. Though I had a good time playing MoHAA (Medal of Honour: Allied Assault for all you FPS nubs) at these private lans my uncles and I used to have. Call of Duty 2 is just so far beyond it in every aspect. Also, frontline pretty much sucked.

Half Life 1 & 2, Unreal Tournament and without a doubt System Shock 2! SHODAN would tell each of you pathetic sacks of meat and bone where to stick it!

Doom is the ONE for me, I mean, using a source port like ZDoom along with utterly awesome modss like Alien Vendetta, Hell Revealed, Herian II, Void and all these great things, It just amazes me to see what can be squeezed out of the engine, and to this day, more and more gets made for it!

After Doom, I would say Unreal Tournament...you gotta love the HEAD SHOTs XD

After noticable mentions include Quake 3, Hexen, Strife, Duke Nukem 3-D and Exhumed

I like my old school simpler FPS games
