I hate final fantasy VIII

Zidane: *cranks knuckles* FFVIII is good, don't get me wrong, but I didn't care for the junction system. Or the name of the summons Guardian Force or GF, it didn't have agood sound to it. And as I've said many time, I'm fine with SquallxRinoa, but there's alot about that relationship that wasn't believable to me. Rinoa is hitting on Squall, Squall rejects her alot with his "Whatever..." additude, it would have made more sense to have Squall at least acknowledge Rinoa's advances and have Squall make a few advances as well before they embrace. I didn't care for Selphie, Selphie has a Rikku-eqse personality and I've never cared for that.

Zidane: Exactly, FFVIII is not a bad game but I found the battle system to have a lot of to be desired myself. I didn't like the drawing system, I prefer the MP systems over drawing magics from drawing points.

I think every game has its goods and its bad qualities. For me FFVIII was a very good game, although some things could've been better. But that also counts for FFVII, FFIX,...... and other non-FF games....
Like in FF X-2 I really hated Yuna (I never liked her anyway :-d), and I also think that certain GF's in VII are "like so lame"....

But I do think this could prove to be a very interesting topic :-)

Okay...FF8 is a good game. That's a fact. It's just a game that you happen to not like for some plausible reasons. For example the characters; I don't like the characters either. But what's boring to you might not be boring to another person.

Zidane: I agree with Summoner. As mentioned before, FFVIII is an enjoyable experience, though I wouldn't call it Square's best work. Morgoth, I don't mean this as a flaming but I find hate threads pointless, inless you can come up with something even the game fans will agree with you. Perhaps, it's best to do what my wife and I did. Read the thread in the FFIX thread called "Stop Whining!" A thread showing why you prefer your favorite game over FFVIII and other games, is better IMHO than posting a thread of bashing the game where the fans who bash you back with facts, a comparsion thread on your opinion works a lot better than a hate thread.

If you played past the first disc you'd see the changes Squall goes through emotionally. Ie. when he carries Rinoa on his back

Rinoa is a computer made character, therefore not pretty because she doesn't exist. Secondly, how do her looks detract from the gameplay unless you were just looking for fan service...?

Every FF has its characters to hate, like Cait-Sith, Zidane, Sabin, Palom/Porom (at least for me they annoyed). Zell is no exception :D

I'd say that VIII is probably my fave FF so far. I wont get in to the whats and why's though. I will however say that if I had to choose something I didnt like about the game, it'd be Selphie, damn she's lame. I hated her, I've played it through many times, and in all those times, I've put her in my main party once. She's just so annoying and is not funny at all, though she seems to have been written mainly as a comic relief character she completely fails at this and ends up coming across as mind-bogglingly...well...lame. I wish her character had been replaced by a worthwhile one.

It was the second one I ever played, as far as I'm concerned, it's the best, sadly, I'm a sucker for any storyline basically, because I don't look for the BAD parts!
Only other ones are 7, I played my cousins half way through, he moved a few states away and when I got it I didn't feel like playing through it again, seemed like a lousy storyline and wierd kiddy graphics, apocalyptic world, government taking over, psycho with silver hair who walks in flames...where have I heard this before?

Did you read my name? Hee hee...it's true, I traded FF1/2 combo disc for Legend of the Dragoon, which beats out the entire FF line, my little brothers got ahold of my FFX disc...keeps freezing seconds before the final boss, it was a good game, too bad.

It isn't the best in the series...that's exactly why I dislike 8 so much now. Because people can't see the flaws in EVERY game. Especially ANY Final Fantasy game. You're the pot calling the kettle black by saying other people are in denial. You can not face the fact that this game is not peferction; no game is. FFVIII is personally one of my favorite games I have ever played. But I don't think it was the best in the series.. anyways, the pros ( in my opinion ) are the battle system, mini-quests, and the music. The cons ( also in my opinion ) is the characters, the areas, and the somewhat depressing story line ( not really the story line just couldn't think of anything else ). :p :choc2:

Why don't you explain to me how exactly I am "forcing my opinion" on you? I'm not going to lable every statement I make with "This is My Opinion" or "This Is Fact." If you can't realize what's fact and what's not, especially in a thread which is in regards to which FF is the best, then you're on your own.

I'm not going to change my opinions so they can match what your conceptions of what you consider to be "flaws." Final Fantasy VIII WAS the greatest monumental achievement in the history of interactive entertainment, and the only reason others cannot see it is because they were so in love with their second rate FFVII, that they could not possibly accept the idea that a better game came along.

Your concept of perfection is different than my concept of perfection. FFVIII WAS PERFECTION, so deal with it. The characters, game play, and story line were perfection incarnate. Like I stated above, I'm not going to stamp a lable on each statement I make which says "This is My Opinion." If you can't realize what is opinion and what is fact, then I can't help you.

Final Fantasy VIII was a let down in terms of story line. Let the rest be as it is, but Final Fantasy is great because it's like reading a book with moving pictures, not because of what characters look like or battle systems. There's a lot of other good battle systems in other games, but they're not worth playing because the story lacks in places. The entire second half of eight after the defeat of the sorceress doesn't make sense. It's long, boring and anticlimatic. You chase a lot of people who in the end don't matter. All that matters is this ancient sorceress or new one or whatever that had almost nothing to do with the characters. Many other games follow a sensible storyline. VIII doesn't. Besides, the money speaks for itself. Final Fantasy VII is the best selling RPG of all time.

Final Fantasy VIII is reported as being the second best selling Final Fantasy of all-time, selling 8 million copies. FFVII sold close to 10 million copies.
