I'm a New Zealander and I was a pretty avid gamer at one point. But at no point did I go to school and think "Man let's talk about video games!" Video games are meant to be played, not talked about at school. Then again, sport isn't much more as a conversation piece outside of stuff like transfer speculation and selections. Otherwise it's "Man, did you see that try?" "Yeah it was awesome!" "Yeah!" "...yeah!" and that's about it. But video games? "Man did you play this game isn't the story good?" "Yeah it was awesome!" "Yeah!" "...yeah!" :p

So no, NZ doesn't suck, your ideas for conversations suck. :D Play video games, watch/play sport, talk about other things.

Auckland does, although I don't know what American nightlife is like as I've only been there for a week, so comparing isn't something I can do. Don't know about the other NZ cities either.

Auckland and Rotorua have good nightlife. Wellington is good if you like homeless people trying to convert your religion. But I'm like Loony BoB, I haven't experienced American nightlife so perhaps I haven't a clue.

Thanks Bob, and Meat Puppet, for responding to my question about where to go for good nightlife in New Zealand. I have written down Auckland and Rotorua so that I can ask my New Zealander friends here in South Korea to give me even more details about specific clubs and whatnot.

If you ever consider coming to S. Korea (particularly Daegu or Seoul), I will let anybody know where to go. S. Korea has eeexcellent nightlife which is varied, loud, and open until dawn or later. :cool:
