View Full Version : Do you litter?

As simple as it may seem to deposit a piece of rubbish into a waste disposal unit, some of us just don't do it.

And I am one of those some. Ever since the state took away bins from train station platforms (for anti-terrorism reasons), I've developed a bit of a littering habit. Slotting things into little gaps between train seats or just dropping something on the ground inconspciously as I'm walking is an easier alternative to waiting until I get off the train and finding a bin then. Of course there are places where I dare not litter, like at uni. Sydney University is so bloody clean that you'd feel immensely guilty should the barren ground become not so barren. But usually, if I'd have to go out of my way to get to a bin, I'd just drop whatever I have on the ground and be done with it.

Do you litter?

I never litter. My mother really drove into me not throwing my rubbish wherever. I don't apply this principal to food however, provided I'm outside.

Nyah I don't... :D Seriously I care a lot with the environment so I do the less I can to destroy it (and I'm serious)

I don't like putting rubbish in my pocket, so if there isn't a litter bin within reasonable walking distance, I'll throw the item on the ground. It depends on what the thing is, though. I have no problem carrying a chocolate wrapper in my pocket until I find a bin, but a sticky apple core isn't the sort of thing I want to be carrying in my hand for ages.

Sometimes I do. But England's probably one of the most polluted/litter-ridden countries on Earth, so it makes little difference when there are so many people who ALWAYS litter.

I litter, mainly because I cant find a bin, or am feeling lazy. But I do often put things in the rubbish

EG, at food courts in the mall, instead of just leaving my ubbish behind like most people, I go to the area that those cleaning staff use and put in the bin myself...always getting thanked in the process too.

When its really bad I cant stand it, yet I am prone to dumping things myself.

What can I say, im human (unfortunately)

No, I don't throw my litter. I saw a poor duck sitting on a bank today that was littered with beer cans. :(

I don't litter. I even put my rubbish in my bag / pocket for hours before I might come across a bin. Littering sucks.

depends on where I am or the situation or what it is. If It's something I can just put into a pocket I usually will.

Yeah, same as Bert. I put it in my pockets. Unless it's a refrigerator or something, in which case I tip it down a hill.

No way. It makes the world look rubbish (ha?).

I used to have to pick it up in a couple of part-time jobs I did, and it was amazing how much there was. Some people need to stop being lazy.

I'll toss compost (apple core, banana peel) etc in a bush (plant food!) but other than that I never litter.

I don't litter. After all, you don't want other people littering on your property.

Almost never. If I do, it's probably indoors, which is more just being too lazy to put trash in a trash can than actually littering and damaging the environment.

I recycle :o

In other words, no.

kikimm

In my house, yes =D But that's not really littering, is it.

I used to litter, out of laziness, but I figured it's really not that hard to go look for a trash can, and save someone else some work. Even three seconds of work. I'm fond of saving trash in my pockets/backpack as well. Or I give it to someone else to throw on the ground. :monster:

She's right, you know. I am violently anti-litter. When my sister/dad/boyfriend/friends do it, I hit them. Hard, too. The buttheads. :mad2:

If I drop a piece of a hamburger on the ground, I'm not gonna pick it up or anything. I'm usually not so worried about the biodegradable stuff, but for everything else it goes in the trash can. There are plenty of trash cans everywhere, it's not hard to simply toss things into a bin rather than to drop it in the middle of a sidewalk.
