Proof of the rap group D-12 as you may already know has been shot dead on 8-mile in Detroit. This is pissing me off, there goes another talent, just like 2pac and Biggie. How much more of this are we gonna have to deal with? im shocked, Proof wasnt no gangsta rapper, he didnt look to get shot, now this happens... want to know what you guys think on this situation:mad:

So basically, because you don't like rap, you're glad that a human being that did rap has been murdered.

Yes, you have a problem with that?

Rap is an expression of ones personality and interests just as that scremo emo rock and punk rock are.

MadHero knock it off. I couldn't care less that you do not like rap but this isn't the thread for you to talk about it. Furthermore, personal attacks (such as calling someone a moron) are absolutely prohibited. This goes for you too, Craig.

There's a dangerous culture associated with the genre nowadays - gangsta rap, I mean. It's no secret that high profile rappers have ties to street gangs like the Bloods and the Crips, and rap rivalries often escalate to violent gang feuds which end up in shootings. I don't know if Proof was involved in gangs or not- but somebody evidently had beef with him.

Who killed him? Another rapper?

People tend not to murder each other over The Sex Pistols or Antioch Arrow though.

I don't care, to be honest. Some dude I don't know dies ten thousand times a day, so... I'm struggling to find any empathy here.

Why would someone be a gangster rapper in the first place? Geez, either you're a gangster, or a rapper:mad: , combined is just retarded, then you get like situations like these people getting killed, and i'm not even mentioning the ego-maniacs like 50 cent.

thanks for the kind words roto.

oh, and i think its ironic how proofs death is like the exact same as that in eminem's 'like toy soldiers'. weird

There's a poignant message in the loss of Proof, I think.

Assuming Proof was not a gangster rapper, may he rest in peace. But I do agree that gangster rappers are destroying rap music (and the music industry in general).

I feel the same way. Well, the rest in peace part and the destroying the music industry in general part.

I don't know if Proof was involved in gangs or not- but somebody evidently had beef with him.Proof was apparently opposed to this kind of rap sub-culture. In interviews, he expressed disdain for hearing 'the same album over and over' because of other artists being unoriginal and having nothing positive to say. He wanted to take rap back towards its roots, while also branching out into new subject matter beyond sex and violence.
Commendable goals, and hopefully they'll catch on in mainstream hip-hop... though I kind of doubt it. Aside from their sarcastic humour and commentary, D12 didn't do anything wildly original that I saw.

It's sad that yet another man has been killed just because he was associated with a particular artform... I'm hoping things will begin to turn around when more fans realise the true awfulness associated with gang warfare, pimping and the other 'professions' promoted by today's mainstream hip-hop.

I hardly listend to D12 or Proof but, this is very sad. What I've heard of him I liked. It is very weird after the liek toy soldiers video by Eminem came out dipicting proof dying of gunshot wounds and now this. :( R.I.P.
Just thought I'd add this:
According to a spokesperson for the Detroit Police Department, evidence indicates Proof shot first and then suffered a gunshot wound to the head around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday (see "D12's Proof Shot And Killed At Detroit Club"); he was pronounced dead on arrival at St. John Holy Cross Hospital. A second victim, who has been identified as 35-year-old Detroit resident Keith Bender Jr., remains in critical condition at St. John Hospital and Medical Center. He also sustained a gunshot to the head.

It's sad that Proof had to die that way. I didn't like D12 all that much, but I wasn't there when the murder took place, so I'm not writing about that. Anywho, Proof is gone, I didn't know him, but it's a sad thing when people die. And for the record...I like rap. I agree that some of it is garbage or un-original...but some of it shines out.

I never liked him as a rapper. But it is a disgrace that someone had to die over rap beef. I think the world knows who done it. It was Royce Da 5'9"'s 'crew'. I prefared Royce over D12 but this is, yet again, taking way too far. In the words of Biggie 'I wouldn;t wish death on anyone, there's no coming back from that'.

How many rappers have now been murdered over the years?
So sad, hate rap, but no decent human being deserves to be murdered.
