Hi, I'm new to EoFF and the FF series.

I've been given FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX and FFX by my fiancé (Endless Twilight), but I haven't played them much.

Any tips?

First of all, a big WELCOME.

Advice: If you're going to play a later FF (7 and onwards) I suggest you play it quickly the first time to enjoy the storyline. For example, on FF7, that's what I did the first time, and I didn't bother to level up much or master any materia. You see, these games tend to be fairly complex, so evryone needs to play the game once to get used to it, as practice. Then, the second time you play through it, you have the practice, so you can really get down to some serious leveling up and materia-mastering.

You only have the chance to experience the suprise of plot twists once, so put more of a premium on enjoying the storyline the first time, and then you can get into all the side-quests and leveling up, etc. the next time. These games really do bear re-playing because of the huge number of side-quests that you can do.

The second time you play, I suggest printing off important info such as materia lists, side quests, limit breaks etc. so that you can play the game to its fullest enjoyment.

(unless you've played rpg's before) Try any of the games out, you'll probably hate it at first.
But keep playing it for about two weeks and then you'll start to like it.
As for gameplay tips, DON'T RUSH ANYTHING. you'll get your sweet little party killed.

use this bit of information to see what you would like to play first:

FFVII: sci-fi like, VERY complex storyline. Pretty easy difficulty.
FFVIII: love and war based storyline. Pretty hard difficulty (i think)
FFIX: story about love, friendship, and caring. very easy, a good starter.
FFX: story about betrayal, sacrifice, and hope. medium difficulty.

Also, later if you like these then tell your probably by then husband to get you some of the earlier Final Fantasy games. They're just a good, really.

Play whichever, whenever. You can get the early ones (I-VI) for NES and SNES. Or PS if you want. Im an FFVII 'fanboy' but play FF8 first is my advice.
