EDITED DUE TO NEW VERSION

Okay, well, it seems that EoFF has had more RPG's about it than Final Fantasy itself. Of course, only one (http://www.eyesonff.com/members/wiki/Articles/EoFFSickIrony) (that I know of) was ever actually, you know, finished, but that's beside the point, which is that I have finally decided to have a go at it.
Now, before you all go "Ha, this will never get off of the ground", well HA to you, because it already has. Over the past two days four days (Spring break = ) I have secretly been working on this, due to a sudden strike of severe boredom roughly 2 hours into my Spring Break. What do I have to show for it? A little, 15-20 min 45-60 min demo type thingie. An RPG, that's what. Think of it as a storyboard type thing, laying out the basic foundation without all the bothersome flash and dazzle. That stuff will (hopefully) come later.
Anyway, as I'm sure you're all dying to see it, here are links to the two files you will need.
Rpg Maker XP Postailty Knights Edition Enhanced (http://sparelimited.com/rase/RPG%20Maker%20XP%20v1.01%20-%20Postality%20Knights%20Edition%20v2.0%20ENHANCED.zip)
Current Version (http://sparelimited.com/rase/EoFF%20RPG%20-%20Why%20Noobs%20Can%20Be%20Important.zip)

Steps:
NOTE: The screens shown here were from EoFF v2.0. Everything is the same now, just the folder will be EoFF v2.1, and so on.
1. Simply download the above files and extract them using WinZip.
2. Install Rpg Maker XP Postailty Knights Edition Enhanced
3. Cut/Copy the EoFF v2.1 folder from wherever you put it.
4. Go to your C: Drive (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v632/RyanStage/RPG%20Maker/1.jpg) and click Games.
5. Click the only folder in there (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v632/RyanStage/RPG%20Maker/2.jpg).
6. Click the Games folder (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v632/RyanStage/RPG%20Maker/3.jpg).
7. Paste the EoFF v2.1 folder in the Games folder, like so (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v632/RyanStage/RPG%20Maker/4.jpg).
8. Open the folder and click the Game icon (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v632/RyanStage/RPG%20Maker/5.jpg).

Okay, there you go, I think I covered everything. As for any last questions:
No, I don't think it's amazingly good.
Yes, I am proud of it.
Yes, I do plan on actually going through with it.
No, I won't gurantee that I will.
No, I don't know if it is or will be better than Sick Irony, as I've never played that. However, the odds seem heavily against me, so I'll just go with no on that one.

After you're done, feel free to post/PM me any ideas, or corrections for any errors I made. If you have trouble getting the game to work, PM me and I'll try and help you figure it out.

If a mod or admin sees this and deems it worthy, it'd be great if it was stickied. More people playing = more ideas = me being more willing to go through with this.

It glitched after a couple screens into the intro...
Sorry...

One mistake I found was that it's "bear with me" not "bare with me"
Just throwing that out there.

If you get it going though, I'll be sure to try it out.

The XP files are downloading now! And well done on pre-empting the Sick Irony whines. Sick Irony was alright, but unless you're an extremely old oldbie, (there's about 4 of them left) you won't get most of the humour.

While you are not currently in it, I have plans to have you, along with at least fifty other well-known members, along with a host of "forgotten" members, make at least cameo appearances, if not more. Right now I'm more focused on making sure this is playable, since it seems oddler had a problem.

Making an RPG takes a lot of dedication, and I hope you go through with it, man.:p Mine's kind of stalled right now, and it's especially hard to get going because I'm trying to make it funny. And I'm not that great at being funny. It's not EoFF Based, though.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the lot of us. ;)

Okay, when I opened it, it gave an error saying Graphics\Titles\EoFF Title could not be found. I fixed that one just by making the aforementioned file.

Anyway, that was pretty neat. It had some clever ideas as to putting the forums into RPG format. Maybe this stuff is spoilers, so:

When it asked us for a user name, and he replied "Psychotic", you had me believing for a second that it knew who had downloading it and was playing it.

WAHAHAHAHHA BEHOLD THE VOID IS AN OLD MAN!

EoEO has to feature a conservatives vs liberals war. It simply has to!

I did notice a couple of grammatical errors, but I didn't write them down. Sorry. Someone else will pick up on them though. :D

Umm, I thought RPG Maker made battles have a side view, like in the FF games. This is First person, like in Dragon Warrior.

I believe RPG Maker 2000 did it in the DW format, 2003 in the FF format, and now XP is back to the DW format.

Which is easier to program? 2k3 or XP?

Rase
04-19-2006, 05:54 AM
For scripting, I don't know, I don't handle that stuff. In general, I'd say you would probably have an easier time using RPG Maker 2k3, if only for the fact that, since it's older, there are a ton of tutorials for it and plenty of experienced people who know what their doing and are willing to help. A good place for 2k3 tutorials is Gaming World, which also has forums devoted to helping people with these and other game making programs.

Okay, well, I managed to get Eyes on Each Other finished today. I just finished playing it through, and for me it worked fine. I've updated the link in my initial post, so the game file link will download the current version. I believe that, if you have a Save file from the v2.0, you can simply copy and paste is to the folder for v2.1 and it should work, but I'm not positive.

Additions to v2.1
Actual dungeon, centered around the EoEo forum
A few new Skills
Six new pieces of equipment
Five new enemies
Two new bosses
A few more cameos
A little more to the actual storyline

Just as a reminder, ANY ideas for cameos, in-jokes, items/weapons/armor/skills, etc. is welcome. I won't guarantee that I will use it, but I would definetly like more ideas from other people, so it feels more like EoFF as a whole, not like EoFF form my point of view only. Other then that, enjoy, as the next update will probably be a while coming, what with school and AP testing coming up. :( Plus, I want it to be good, and it'll be my first attempt at creating a town, along with another dungeon, so it may take me a while to get it right.

Finally, I can see a problem arising in the future. My current hosting site (Yahoo Groups) allows a maximum of 20 MB of files on there, and I'm already pushing 5 MB. If you know of any other file hosting sites with a greater amount storage space, yet still free, I would appreciate it if you PM me a link. Thanks.

*prays the file still works and doesn't act all stupid and crap*

Another little batch of screenshots from v2.1, mainly to try and intice people to play.

Eyes on Each Other = Requisite Fire Dungeon (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v632/RyanStage/RPG%20Maker/EoEo.jpg)

Behold the Void's "Restrict Privileges" is the only skill you'll learn that hits all enemies, and it has a side effect of lowering an enemies Dexterity by 50% for a few turns. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v632/RyanStage/RPG%20Maker/Restrict.jpg)

As expected, certain Skills are effective against diifferent monsters, like 'Void's "Chill Out" against fire monsters. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v632/RyanStage/RPG%20Maker/Battle2.jpg)

Weapons can also do extra damage depending on the enemy. Rase's guns have a bonus against flying enemies, for example. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v632/RyanStage/RPG%20Maker/Effective.jpg)

Like Psychotic said, EoEo needed a little conservative vs. liberal battle. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v632/RyanStage/RPG%20Maker/War1.jpg)

Can you guess which side is which? (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v632/RyanStage/RPG%20Maker/War2.jpg)

edczxcvbnm makes a brief appearance in EoEo. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v632/RyanStage/RPG%20Maker/ed.jpg)

You may find rare stat-improving items throughout the game. Decide who to use them on wisely. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v632/RyanStage/RPG%20Maker/StatEnhance.jpg)

Be sure to stock up on Rest Stations before you try and take on EoEo, or you may end up regretting it. Or maybe not, I don't know (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v632/RyanStage/RPG%20Maker/Rest.jpg)

Also, as a final note, if I included you in this little game and you a) don't want to be in it or b) don't like how you're portrayed or your lines or something, feel free to PM me and let me know. It'd be especially helpful if you could provide an idea of what your lines should be or how you should be portrayed (within reason). Thanks. :)

Pfft, I prefer rm2k3 to 2k or xp I have like, a zillion old projects on there.

Anyway heres my - dum dum dum... review!:
Music Score:
Not much really new here, Mostly rtp, Used well though but unfortunatly its pretty generic from other RTP XP games.
4/10

Battles:
Generic, no real scripts. Points for imginative attacks though and using some well used none rtp enemies.
4/10

Graphics:
Again mostly RTP, although finding consistant maps for XP is hard, granted. Map usage seems to be rather basic, with little detail.
2/10

Side Quests/Games:
Not to many here really
0/10

Storyline:
Not done as far as Ive seen, so its fairly original. Last game I saw with this setting with Endless Thread and that was still a very diffrent story from whats used here, extra 2 points for creativity.
However, It did have a bit of X syndrone, Alot of it was reevaled to early, and it was abit flat.
4/10

Characters:
Seeing how there mostly based on real people makes this hard to rank really, so I'll give it a 7/10.

Overall: 21/60
Good concepts, needs some work though.

Well, I appreciate the review. The graphics, music, and battles, yeah, I think I mentioned this earlier, or at least implied it, but I don't plan on making anything from scratch for this. I may run around the net and get some midi's or monster sprites, but I've seen slim pickings in the other areas (maps, battle backgrounds, etc.), so I'd rather stay with the consistent yet generic RTP ones. Mainly, the game is really EoFF first, RPG second, so it's not going to be a super flashy amazing game. It's appeal will (hopefully) just come from the references to EoFF and the internet in general. As a stand alone RPG, I think I might score it less than you did, since if you had no clue about EoFF you wouldn't get things like battling Sasquatch and The Redneck in EoEo or Mirel being sad that they haven't found Del Murder yet. But yeah, thanks for giving it a go. Hopefully the storyline and EoFF service will be able to make up for the lack of originality when it's finished, we'll have to see.

Mainly, the game is really EoFF first, RPG second, so it's not going to be a super flashy amazing game. It's appeal will (hopefully) just come from the references to EoFF and the internet in general. Okay, based on that, and having played 2.1, I'm going to suggest a couple of things.

- Knock the random encounter rate down.
- Decrease the difficulty of enemies and bosses.

The encounter rate is higher than in FF, and what's everyone's least favourite part of FF? Random freakin' encounters. Ouch ouch ouch.

I was so close to dying against Sasquatch (you died, Rase!) after fighting him for so long, and one of my remaining characters, kikimm, was useless (attacks did 0, no more SP, no more items) and I think I pretty much defeated him based on luck. When I replay this whenever v2.2 comes out, I will probably lose to him. :( Also, random encounters were generally harder and took more rounds to kill than FF random encounters, in my view.

So as you say, its appeal will come from EoFF references, and not the extremely hard boss fights. If they wanted a challenge, they'd probably go and play FF itself. However, if you desperately want to make a game that takes some real time and effort to beat, maybe make a hard mode, and an easy mode for schmucks like me who just want to see the EoFF references. If you can only make one difficulty though (as I imagine it'd take twice the amount of work) then I recommend just having an easy mode. But hey, that's my opinion, and it's your game.

Rase
04-23-2006, 05:03 AM
Your absolutely right Psychotic. Actually, I was about to ask about the difficulty when I released v2.2, but now I know to tone it down before then. Hopefully it will be more manageable in the next version. :)

Oh, and sorry for dying on you. In v2.2 I've thrown in a spell and potion for reviving your allies. :) Not sure why I didn't think about that earlier...

EDIT: Just got done going through everything and toning it down. The next version will be easier in the following areas:
All enemies stats have been lowered by as little as one-sixth and as much as one-half.
Item and equipment costs are lowered.
Encounter rate lowered significantly.
Weapons recieved a boost in strength.

Yeah, sorry for the extremely long update. Now that I've finished all of my AP exams and the SAT's, I'll be able to get the ball rolling again. I aiming for the next version to be up by next Saturday at the latest. :)

You can download Version 2.2 here. (http://sparelimited.com/rase/EoFF%20v2.2.zip)

This one is quite a bit bigger than the previous one (thanks to me using some MP3's, among other things), so I'm also kind of sorry about that. Anyway, on with the new things:
New playable character
New town (The Lounge)
Between 10-15 new enemies
Few more skills
A Secret Hidden Skill for the new PC
New dungeon with two ways to tackle it
Host of new references
More plot details unfold

Now, due to the way this week's looking, there is no way I'd have the time to go through and Beta test the whole thing (curse you Trig/Chem/Spanish tests!). So, if for some reason you find a bug, let me know VIA PM and I will do my best to promptly fix the problem and get a revised version up and running.

Thank you all for taking the time to play this. :) Comments/questions/critcism/ideas/etc. are, as always, most welcome.

Also, well, depending on how long this takes, I may be in college before or soon after it's done, so we'll have to wait and see about that.

Also, Maxx Power, I've found and (hopefully) fixed the bugs you found. A new version is up. Also, I managed to knock out a few unneeded things and get it down to 65 MB. :D

It wasn't going to use the countries from the forum. Just the landscape - pretty much everything else was some kind of EoFF-ish reference. The countries were named Eyeson, Eyesoff, El Jay, Irl and I think there was another but I forget it.

EDIT: Oh, yeah, Mmorpg.

I'll download the whole game when it's 100% done. How much is done so far, percent-wise?

That, I do not know, though I doubt it will be finished for a few months, at least. My target goal in terms of gameplay time is roughly 15-20 hours, though that's just an aim, not a finality, and will all be affected by how my life, job, and school go. So, if forced to make a guess, I'd say roughly 10% done, assuming all goes as planned.

"Ask, and you shalt recieve." I'm sure I can fit you in somewhere, just don't expect to be a major plot device or character. :)

Also, as an update of sorts, I have barely had a chance to work on this since the last update, what with finals and such. :( My last school day is tomorrow, so hopefully, after a week of pure relaxation, I'll be able to get this thing rolling again. Sorry. :(

Personally, I couldn't care less how long someone's been here when it comes to inclusion. Of course, only well-known members will play a major role in it (as PC's, villians, sidequest material, etc.), but every RPG needs loads of NPC's for it's towns and I see no reason why he can't be one. At least he made a small request instead of "MAKE ME THE FINAL BOSS!!!" or something (got a PM with that in it once).

Now, as for you and Yuffie the Dragon Ninja, I'll certainly include you, but I need some clarification as to what you mean by "double act". Do you mean something like, when the player talks to one of you, you both respond to him/her, sometimes finishing each others sentence, or am I way off here? :)

Well, most enemies/bosses are either random inactive members (enemies) or banned (bosses). However, I'll see what I can do with you. :p You probably won't be until a later version though. I'll let you know when that one comes around.

Hmm, well, that's an iffy one. The various levels/worlds are mainly the different forums (Gen. Chat, EoEo, etc.), and seeing as how Amano World is not a forum, I'm not wont to include it in that form. However, I may be able to think of some way to implement your idea, possibly using the Artists Forums. I'll have to think it over. :)

Part of the problem is the white background, as RPGM assumes black to be transparent, not white.

Back to the topic though, are you planning on just one Giga Guess travelling and vending? Cuz I was thinking something more along the lines of Giga Guess being more of a title than a name, with several Giga Guesses around, and one "Supreme" vendor (Omega Guess, an alternate handle I use) masterminding it. Maybe even make a playable character out of him. Just as a thought.

Good to know. I don't really venture into the FF forums on a regular basis, so I never would have known that.

Also, a question to all who've played it: Do you care if I show the party blowing up the forums? I'm keeping the two times I've shown it already, but I figured it get repetative after a while and thought of just implying it via sound effects and such. Thoughts?

Finally, I'm almost finished with the next "episode", so to speak. It's really the same as the other updates, in the sense that there is a "new" town (Lounge, but with new people/items to buy), a new dungeon, new party member, new enemies, new cameos, etc. I am introducing a new thing or two though, you know, spice things up a bit, keep you on your toes. :) Unless something goes horribly wrong, or some people I have doing things for me don't have them done by then, it should be up by the end of this weekend, as I'll need to play through and make sure it all works. :)

I think it might be a good idea to keep the sequences where the forums get destroyed. Maybe during one of those events something crazy happens like a boss attacks while the forum is exploding or you have to escape the forum before a time limit runs out. But that's just me; don't think about it too seriously. I can't wait to play the new episode BTW. Keep it rolling.

Normally, you can simply Copy and Paste the Save file from one version to another. I probably should have mentioned that earlier. However, I do know that you will need to start a New Game for the next version. Do to some changes I had to make, any older Save files will not work. But trust me, in the long run, it'll be worth it. There were some random glitches that were pretty strange.

I'll be needing another post merging here, but I don't care because Haha, the new episode done!

Okay, first, a funny story...
Well, while I was surfing the Web, trying to find good MP3's and midi's for this game a while back, I stumbled across one I really liked. Problem was, it wasn't made to be looped, and I couldn't figure out how to get it to loop from a certain point, rather than the beginning. So, I just decided to make it repeat itself a lot of times from said point via Copy and Pasting in my MP3 editing program, making it an hour long. Now it sounded fine, but I was just looking at it and I saw that it was 60 Mbs in size. In other words, I had effectively made this game file unessecarily huge. I've taken it out (it wasn't THAT good) and knocked the whole thing down to somewhere around 8 Mbs. :jess:

Anyway, you can download the latest version here. (http://sparelimited.com/rase/EoFF%20RPG.zip) Again, I haven't had a chance to give it a full test run (so much for summer being the "relaxing" season), so if you encounter any bugs that prevent further gameplay, let me know and I'll fix them and get a new version up ASAP.

New things (this is becoming a pattern):
New playable character and class
New dungeon
"New" town (The Lounge, but with different cameos )
Six new enemies
Six mini-bosses
Two bosses
Few more skills
Another Hidden Skill, this time for Mr. Noob
Of course, new references/cameos
More plot details unfold, as usual

Remember, you will need to start this as a New Game, but (hopefully) from now on you will be able to transfer you save file from episode to episode (via Copy and Pasting) Oh yeah, and that's what I'm refering to these as now: episodes. As in episodic games. I stole the term form an article I read on the game SiN. :p

Again, thank you all for taking the time to play this. :) Comments/questions/critcism/ideas/etc. are, as always, most welcome. Also, I'll be trying to get a full walkthrough up, for those who want it (as in, it'll tell you how the two current Hidden Skills, and give help if, for some reason, you need it).

I hope you enjoy it and have fun. :)

Also, as a sort of apology, I can offer this (http://sparelimited.com/rase/Save1.sav). It's a Save file set right after entering the gate in the FFVII forum. It should work if you place it in the folder, so if you don't want to play through the part prior to that and don't mind playing off that file, feel free to use it.

Okay, I feel incredible bad for all of this going wrong, but it looks like there is yet ANOTHER bug, therefore ANOTHER edit is in order. However, you may want to simply wait on downloading this until Maxx Power, who's been informing me of all of these mistakes, finishes the game completely and let's me know that it is a fully functional version. As of now though, the most recent edit is up and ready for download.

On another note, I currently feel very unhappy about all of these problems. :(

Hey I dunno if you already addressed this due to the fact I saw you were going to search for midi's and then the fact that I kind of just skipped reading everything else. I plan to download everything once I get back on the DSL but alas, I'm on Dial-up right now and I am impatient.

But what I was going to say is that I write Midi's on Noteworthy composer on my free time due to my love of music and my..................... Years in band.

The first midi is still in work, 'cause the key change and such. I have a bad habit of tempo changes...
I made the Pirate midi on my dad's computer and he had a compy made in like 1997, so I havn't updated it since I got the better synth player. I plan to do that and it'll sound way better because I'll know how the patches work. The Pirate Midi's my best (in my opinion) out of all the one's that I got done on my dad's compy. So there's those, It's just incase you want some original music from someone on EoFF. ^^; I'm always here to help out. So just tell me if you'd want the help and I'm here. <3.

By the way, there are some really hard hitting notes in them, Clashing with ressonance. So watch out. > o

It's actually a pre-made midi that came with the RPG Maker XP program, creatively titled "Town 3". I attached it to this post.

Do you mean Rest Potion? If so, I just tried it and it worked fine. Think you can get a screenshot to show me exactly what you mean.

Let's just say that Chat will be in the final game in some form. I'm not sure when it'll be put in, but rest assured that it will get in there at some point.

Finally, yet another edit has produced yet another new thing to download, which produced another moment of sadness for your truly. :( Hopefully what I'm doing next time will keep this from happening.

Not the rest potion. The one that revives from dead/afk status.

Also, damage numbers aren't appearing. I dunno if this is just me or not, but I can't tell how much I'm hurting for.

And lastly, Chat > the forum, so chat's gonna be the best part of the game, right?

Rase

Whoops hehe, apparently I had to specify that it worked on dead allies and only dead allies.
And so, a new edit follows the other by 20 mins, and for the sake of simplcity here (http://sparelimited.com/rase/EoFF%20RPG.zip) is another link to it.

As for damage numbers, I'm not sure. I have yet to have that happen to me. Is it a specific attack or in general?

Oh, and I don't know about Chat yet. I've given it some thought, but not much. I may contact you and some other chatters once I get to where I want to include it, as I never go in there and thus, don't really know how to make it. But it definitely won't be the next episode, maybe the one after that, we'll have to see.

Jebus

Did this happen in the edit that I linked to in post #126? I've been changing the version in the link everytime someone informs me of a bug, and it shouldn't be happening in the most recent one. Is it?

Also, to be sure it's remembered:

Hmm, well, I just looked over the game itself and it shouldn't be doing that in this version, as I edited it out. The only reason I can think of is that I must have edited the game and then forgot to upload the new version (which, knowing me, is very likely). Spam Grenade (Damage Item): Deals predetermined damage to all enemies with the power of spam. (Don't know if those items are possible for RPG Maker.)

Banner Staff (Staff): Dazzles enemies with a beautifully crafted signature! (Use for a spell in battle? Dunno if that's possible or not.)

Anyway, these and the ones I've recieved via PM are all very good ideas, keep it up. Maybe some time next week, or the week after that. It's kind of hard for me because there are a lot of maps and cameos in the next episode, and I can only do so much at a time before it becomes unbearably tedious. I will tell you that this is a much more reference/cameo driven episode, with no actual dungeon to explore. There will be a portion of fighting, but it is mainly a break of sorts from dungeons. It will also add to the story, and leave you with two paths to take once again, depending on what you want to do. The actual paths themselves won't be available until the episode after the next though.

Maybe I could be a summon....not sure where I'd stand in the spectrum...but....
At the moment, I'd rather just keep you as the main store keeper, if that's okay.

Okay, this is just a heads up. Apparently, a major phone line, that provides my house with our high-speed internet and phone stuff, is damaged, and as such I won't be able to upload the next episode until tonight at the earliest, next Monday at the (hopefully) latest. I'm currently typing this from a public library. So, this is just letting you guys know that. Sorry about the delay. :(

Okay, forget all of that. My internet just got back up, so I've managed to get the new episode up. You can find it here (http://sparelimited.com/rase/EoFF%20RPG.zip). :D

It should be virtually bug free, as I had starseeker and Psychotic beta-test it for me and I changed the errors they found. However, if you do find errors still, feel free to let me know.

I hope you guys enjoy it. I'm not going to try and predict when the next one will be, as I want to take a little break and play some games rather than make them. That, combined with a busy summer and summer-reading books for AP English and Statistics, will probably delay the next one. :/

Neel's Hat (Legendary helmet): Hat that once belonged to a famous member. Greatly increases all stats.

Neel's Spicy Buffalo Chicken Melt (Item): Heals all HP and MP of the entire party. Once belonged to a famous member.Haha, yeah, I suggested the Hat to Rase in my PM, but not the Melt. I swear once my indigestion problem goes away I am so pigging out at Denny's. :D

Rase, I think it would be okay if you gave generic names to the early equipment sorts and reserved EoFF-related names for the more high powered equipment.
What about my hat, you bastard? :(

I'm still not sure what may be causing this. I'm trying to find out, but it's apparently either not common, or people just don't knwo why it happens. I'll continue looking though, and if I find something I'll let you know. Sorry. :(

Also, I forgot to mention, I am just now looking into the glory that is scripting. Not that I'm learning it or anything, but I'm looking into using pre-made ones in this, if I like them/think they're cool. If I change something and it gets a backlash though, I'll be sure to change it back.

Azar's Hat should most certainly be the best Hat, as his is the original and the others are all just copies that were trying to capture Azar's Hat's magic. Azar's Hat is to the other Hats as Sauron's Ring is to one of those rings given to a dwarf, elf or man.

Or Azar's hat can only be uncursed when you completed the collection of the other copies of his hats.

The only idea I've found is going to take a little jury-rigging. First, you'll need to do what Psychotic apparently did when he wants to screw around with my game.

Or you could do what I did, and simply make a new project file, then copy all of Rase's files into the new project's directories. It works just as well :D
Then, go to Tools>Script Editor. Copy and paste this code over the one at the bottom that says main.

#==============================================================================
# ** Main
#------------------------------------------------------------------------------
# After defining each class, actual processing begins here.
#==============================================================================

begin
$fontface = $defaultfonttype = $fontname = Font.default_name = "Arial"
$fontsize = $defaultfontsize = Font.default_size = 22
# Prepare for transition
Graphics.freeze
# Make scene object (title screen)
$scene = Scene_Title.new
# Call main method as long as $scene is effective
while $scene != nil
$scene.main
end
# Fade out
Graphics.transition(20)
rescue Errno::ENOENT
# Supplement Errno::ENOENT exception
# If unable to open file, display message and end
filename = $!.message.sub("No such file or directory - ", "")
print("Unable to find file #{filename}.")
end

I'm not sure if this will work or not, but it's worth a shot.

Anyway, here are a few examples of some scripts I've looked at implementing in here. I've attached the images because Photobucket hates me at the moment. Also, these are all done in a Test project, so there's HP and the guys names are different.

#1. This is a Ring Menu. Functionally, it's the exact same as a regular menu, it just looks different, and therefore makes this more "original", per se.
#2. When you choose something like "Equip" of "Skill", this is how you choose the character you want.
#3. This is just an addition that makes little bars appear along with your AS and SP numbers.
#4. This is something akin to FFVII. It's technically called a "Battle Report", and adds up your Exp and Money in the same fashion.
#5. A Bestiary-type thing, a la Dawn of Souls and FFIV Advanced. Gives you enemy info after you beat them.

Now, the first two scripts work fine, but the third and fourth are incompatible with old save files, which means that you guys would have to start all over again if I used either of them. The Bestiary is also incompatible with the Ring Menu, so I can currently use it if you guys didn't want the Ring Menu, but liked the idea of a Bestiary (it'd still be incompatible with old save files). So, I leave it up to you guys. Which scripts would you like included at the moment?

I like ideas #3-5 (bars, status and bestary), but I really don't like having the menu monkeyed around with. That's my opinion anyway.

Well, after twiddling around with it, I think I've got those three scripts in (AS/SP/EXP Bars, Battle Report, and Bestiary/Member List). The Member List replaces the useless Save function on the Menu (useless because, as you know, you can only save at those certain stations). You can activate it by talking to the "top" crystal in the FAQ or by simply leaving the FAQ and entering the Homepage.

If you'd like to try it out, here (http://sparelimited.com/rase/EoFF%20RPG%20-%20Why%20Noobs%20Can%20Be%20Important.zip) is the link to the download.I had to name it something else because you apparently can't have two files named the same thing on the same site. Remember, you will need to start from the beginning, as this doesn't register with old save files. But then, if it did, you'd be missing fifty-some enemies from your Member List, and that wouldn't do. :) And, as always, feedback of these changes is most appreciated.

I've attached some screenshots, as you can see, and will give them a brief overview. First is the Menu screen. Not much different, just the bars and the faded out "Member List". Next is the Registration Battle. Here you can see the bars as they appear on the Battle Screen. Next, the Battle Report, showing your EXP and GP gained, along with any items you got. It also shows your current levels for each, and the amount of EXP you need to gain a level. If a character learns a new skill, it will alert you. Then we have another view of the Menu (exciting, no?). This just shows the little EXP bar filing up. I'm not sure why I included it, I'm tired at the moment. Finally, a page of the Member List, with all the info it provides.

Due to things I had to change for the Member List to work, some monster groups may contain the wrong monsters. So, if you run into, say, Thunday Man in EoEo, let me know.

Finally, I am slowly getting some work done on the next episode. However, with my life getting busier, plus having to create two dungeons, I won't even begin to guess as to when it'll be done.

Anyway, the main reason for this reply is because it's time for another request thing. This time, I need you all to rack your brains for EoFF or internet related names for two main elemental skills. The two elements I need covered are Water and Earth, chosen because RPG Maker XP already has some nice animations pre-made for them. :D Just put forth ideas for the basic (low-level) version of the skill and I can take that and create the other two levels from that theme.

As an example, I made all the Fire skills a variant of Flame, because flaming is something that happens a lot in message boards, this one included.

I look forward to seeing any ideas you guys put forth. :)

I encountered a glitch in the current version. In the fortress of the FFVII forum there's an invisble enemy that can only take about 30 damage from Mr Noob but can't be hurt by Void and kikimm. It keeps doing masive damage every turn. I can't kill this thing, it has no name or anything.

Yeah, I noticed that when I was playing through a few battles earlier today. Apparently, when I rearranged the monsters to accommodate the inclusion of the Member List, some enemy groups where accidently given a super-strong invisible enemy that has all the stats an empty enemy slot has (no graphic, 100 Defense, Magic Defense, and Attack Power, etc.) which are high compared to the normal stats in my game. It should be updated and playable now. Sorry about that.

And because there are hundreds of pages, I must ask thee before I lose myself in them... what is my role in the game?

At the moment, you play a role as an NPC and, for a brief moment, as a playable character. This moment happens during the Assualt on General Chat, during which the player has the option of fighting alongside a number of EoFF members in battles. Your character is a Mage, Level 17, and has the following skills:

Chill Out: Cool down a hot-headed member (Level 1 Ice Spell).
Flame: Burn an opponent with fiery insults (Level 1 Fire Spell).
Power Surge: Cause a jolt of power to strike your opponents computer (Level 1 Thunder Spell).
Boredom: Inflict an enemy with boredom, draining their AS (Level 1 Poison Spell).

After the battle, you give the player an SP Restore (Ether) in return for their help.

I just checked, there is, and it's completely my fault. I've been messing around with scripts, looking through ones to incoporate into the RPG. Apparently, while doing this, I accidently deleted the script that transitions from the battle screen to the battle report screen. What you need to do it download the attached file here. In it is a called "Scripts". Copy that, and go to the RPG's folder. There should be a sub-folder called "Data". Find the file called "Scripts" in that folder, delete it, and Paste the one you downloaded into it. It should work from then on. If it doesn't let me know.

It's a good game. Not sure how I should feel about being an old man though :) [/QUOTE]
Well, it was a given that you'd be a mage, and there are only five default male mage sets (most custom ones look rather... out of place). Two were already being used for other characters, and the other two were these (see attachments). So it was either that or the old man.

Besides, think of it as me saying you're wise and stuff. :)
