I just got through playing this game, and I am seriously more dissapointed in the critics for rating this game above /xxx.gif/xxx.gif/xxx.gif/xxx.gif levels. it IS the worst fighting game I HAVE EVER PLAYED. I loved the first, LOVED the second, and now the third is just a steamy pile of /xxx.gif/xxx.gif/xxx.gif/xxx.gif on to top off the series. I just grabed the game, and its case, and threw em in the trash - litterally - as that is all the game is worth.

The went from making your moves achivable to making the ultimate moves so goddamn unachivable when you are fighting kid buu or whatever have you. You need three things to line up perfectly and with the perfect inhuman coordination of tapping all 4 buttons on the controler at once (zeero room for error) hold them down and break the enemy block, or be quick enough to read the computer enemy and know if he is going to throw a punch which puts you back at ground zero.

I am looking at buying the 4th game still, as the first two were very damn good. (outside of this story mode on the first) and I want to know if they changed or fixed any of these imposabilities.

For now, I must rank this game right below Donkey piss, and right above ET (also notibly made by atari). It is safe to say that Atari needs to die.

Anyways - Are any of you fans of the series?
IS budokai 4 worth the buck?
Most importantly, did anyone else find budokai 3 a steamy heap?

I use to love DBZ and tried to get the games for the PS1. But then they jumped over to the PS2 and I didnt enjoy them as much. I havent played the latest version and I dont see myself playing it in the future.

Wrong forum? Is this not a general gameing discussion?

I did not mean to imply the game was hard, it is just a P.O.S. The fighting is clunky and entirely outta control.

I actually preferred the Budokai 1 story mode to the Budokai 2 one. It was purdy.

Though, the story mode in all the games remind me if ESPN decided to recap DBZ episodes.

None of the moves are impossible. In fact, the games biggest flaw would have to be that they're too easy to perform. The Ultimate moves you're complaining about; you don't need to hit all four buttons, just one (I generally just hit X), and unless you're timing is absolutely horrid or you're having an off day it isn't hard to get used to them and pull them off no problem. Same goes for every other move in the game, though I will say the rock paper scissors thing was crap, although it didn't destroy my ability to have some fun with the game.

DBZ games aren't supposed to be hard. Why even bother saying "it's not a difficult game at all?"

All Budokais seemed like pretty lame games to me.

I could see this being said for games one or two, but not this. You lost me here, when you say you just need to hit one button to launch your ultimate attack? Not so the case. The game specifically tells you to hit all 4, and this is when you are in hypermode. That part is a sinch, but to get the move off again is a pain ass (when fighting com player in story line mode) when the whole game really comes down to a rock-paper-sissors match. Ish. I mean, if I broke it down into a procedural if-statment forking structure, the matri would get too massivley long to make the move a if-you-get-lucky game winner. That is just what I don't like.

I will admit, I did like the graphics, and the gameplay, but the mechanics are pure crap, and enough to make me care zilch about the game. Also - the world map -wtf- The game did pose a challenge, but it was not the clean-cut fun kinda challenge - It was the frustraiting button mashing to keep your ground challenge while the com characters go hog wild with ultimate attacks and dragon rush every 5 seconds. It was annoying, and I personnaly HATE the game.

If rock-paper-sissors was my idea of a good time, I woulda bought a game cube. :p

When we talk about fighting games, its all about the Vs mode, Story mode is just a bonus.

But yeah i saw a few people play ;o its pretty shallow and...yeah like DBZ.

My bad, I was thinking of after you already start the move. Regardless, I've never had trouble hitting all four buttons at once. Get some bigger thumbs my friend. :p :D
