When it says you need to catch 99 frogs for max damage with Frog Drop and to get Quina's ultimate weapon, does that mean catching 99 frogs in one single try at the frog catching minigame?

Also, could you theoretically get 9999 damage with Quina the first time you get to Qu's March on Disc 1?

You need to have caught a total of 99 frogs over the course of the game to challenge Quale and win Quina's Gastro Fork. You do not need to catch all 99 at once.

The formula for Frog Drop is Damage = [Number of frogs caught * Quina's level], so at Lv99 you would need 101 frogs to deal 9,999 damage. If Quina's level is lower you need more frogs.

If you wanted to get Quina dealing max damage early on disc 1 you would need to spend a lot of time catching frogs or levelling up. With Quina at Lv10 you'd need to catch 1,000 frogs. That would take a lot longer than catching 101 frogs.

The only other tips I have is to leave a male, female and golden frog in the pond. This will make them respawn much faster. Also, don't hang around one pond for too long. Play through the storyline collecting frogs as you go, then revisit the ponds when you have the means to return to previous areas.

This doens't help for early in the game (and you may or may not already know it) but do nothing, when possible, but steal with zidane. By the time you get the thievery skill (I can't remember with which of his weapons) you will do a guaranteed 9,999 damage (based on some formula involving the number of times you have stolen successfully).

Thievery's damage formula is Damage = [Number of successful steals] * [Zidane's Speed] / 2. You can learn it from the Angel Bless and The Tower.

With a Speed stat of 50 (the maximum), you'll only need 400 successful steals to deal 9,999 damage. It's not that much if you steal at a consistent pace throughout the game.

Gigan Toad is a frog with blue skin (If I am not mistaken), found in Qu's Marsh near Lindblum Dragon Gate.
Quina's Command is: Attack, Eat, Blue Magic, Item. You can eat enemy when the enemy is near death.
