Ok, this isnt a negative topic, its to help me :D Now Ive got an exam coming up in a week and I need to think of 6 racial movies. So far Ive though of:

La Haine
Crash
Gone with the Wind
Boyz in the Hood

There are the 4 I can think of, but if anyone else can think of any, please post them. Remember, this topic isnt to be negative about race, its to help me. I need movies where the black character is viewed as stereotypical (drug dealer/taker, pimp, criminal) and where the white character is basically the hero.

Im going to be looking at the negativity (sp) used agaisnt the black community in movies. I think Crash will be amazing to use because of the racial content involved.

So thinking caps on peeps please :D

I forgot about To Kill A Mockingbird! Excellent work Vandal! Im currently tracking down Mississippi Burning and Ive ordered A Time to Kill, Ghost Dog and Malcom X. I cant watch American History X because it does upset me, but maybe that will drive my arguement forward?

Thanks Vandal!!

Rosewood is a good one. It's based on a true story too...

The Outsiders is more a class problem than a race one. In fact I dont think I saw any blacks in that movie, at least not as anything but side characters, but it's been a long time.

American History X doesnt paint the blacks in a negative way at all, it shows the idiotic views of the main characters, and the revelations that blacks arent some disgusting sub-race, but equals and wonderful people. The whites in American History X are not at all protrayed as heroes, and the blacks not as villians (both sides commit crimes, and both sides have their innocent characters), so that doesnt fit this specification in the least.

If you want a movie where the black main character is falsely viewed as a criminal, Green Mile is good for that.

If I think of any movie that fits well, I'll post it. I'm not into dramatic movies as much.

I just remembered the Green Mile also. I know it inside and out so hopefully that will come in handy. Thanks for those suggestions guys. Has anyone seen Jungle Fever? If so, would that be good to use?
