The EoFF Decathlon (actually a pentathlon) '06 - Results and such.

Greetings, folks. It's not really that time, but I'm in the mood to be your host with the most for another edition of a Decathlon for EoFF. The last time I held this was in the last few months of 2004, and the top three were Psychotic, Fuzakeru, and Del Murder. 77, 66, 55.

Anyway, it's time to bring in a new Decathlon. We have many new members, and hopefully we'll get more members to participate. I guess I should be looking for 25 members.

Anyway, in a Decathlon, there will be ten rounds, and if you can last through the ten rounds, then by golly, you could win. I will be using Rank Voting for each round when it's time to vote, in that case, you vote for your three favorites, ranking them 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

Now that's been taken care of, I'll be looking for contestants. If you are interested in playing the EoFF Decathlon '06, then all you need to do is sign up. If you signed up and failed to turn in an entry in the first three rounds, you will be dropped from the game. :)

The purpose was so that more entries can have at least one vote. If I didn't, only a handful would get plenty of votes. At the moment, 18 out of 23 entires have at least 1 vote. Without the ranked voting system, it would likely be less than half that.

If you have MSPaint, which everyone should have, make a size 150 x 150 sized drawing of a pig done on MSPaint or Photoshop/Paint Shop Pro/etc. How you draw the pig is up to you, and coloring is optional, but definitely not required.

Not that I'm part of the Decatholon this year, but I do have to agree with DeathKnight, Proto. You do tend to jump the gun quite a bit. If you say one thing, you should really stick to it, in my opinion. Of course I'm not the one running this thing.

I started Thursday, there are those complaining that I give too much a long time, and there are those who take a long time and submit at the last minute, such as yourself, I gave as long as possible time to have an entry submitted. I did say it was at 10 PM EST. I was planning on sticking that, but having to read several posts of "THIS IS TAKING TOO LONG" "START IT NOW." etc, I thought maybe I should start sooner. I don't know, the decathlon was always changing throughout. Like last year, how I started with one vote per voter.

EVERYONE IS A DAMN CRITIC! "START EARLY!" "STICK TO YOUR GUN." THIS IS ANNOYING.

As much as I would like to make everyone happy, that is impossible. Whatever I do someone is bound to critic me. Just stop complaining now, the round is already started, let's get it over with now. Geez.

Well, it's not really a challenge brought to you by Old Manus, but you notice his signature? It's a picture of a drawing. If you have MSPaint, which everyone should have, make a size 150 x 150 sized drawing of a pig done on MSPaint or Photoshop/Paint Shop Pro/etc. How you draw the pig is up to you, and coloring is optional, but definitely not required.


A DRAWING of a pig, the rest is optional. D is a photo, not a drawing, the pig in the animation was a drawing, so the rest is unecessary to judge.

We either need to keep it as is or just scratch the round and try again. Due to the controversy and the sudden changes, etc, it seems to me best to just scratch this round. Other people (some of whom did submit an entry) agree.

That's irrelevent. We were told we had until Monday at 10 PM. That was changed suddenly without warning. If we keep this, the Decathlon is a shambles without serious competition and without rules. I was really busy this weekend moving back from college, and thought I would have time to do my entry on Monday. If I had KNOWN that I had to turn it in earlier than that, I would have done so. Rye, as another example, was gone most of this weekend.

I guess another solution is to keep the round as is only for bragging rights but not count the votes towards the overall competition. This would allow the people who were allowed to participate in round 2 to see what people thought of their entry but still scratch the round towards the Decathlon due to random mid-round changes.

I talked about that with Proto earlier, and that doesn't make this any less unfair, since the participants still lose a chance to gain points.

Also, I think we should put the round on hold until ten, which is like an hour from now, or even just extend it another day. I agree with some of the people who say this goes pretty slow, but moving up the deadline without warning was the wrong move. It is hard to please everyone, Prot, and no matter what you do someone will criticize you, but it is much more important to stick to your word.

There'll be arguments that pre-emptively showing most people's entries gives the late-comers an edge, there'll be arguments that the late contestants will give up already instead of giving their best (which they supposedly would have given), that the people who already submitted their pigs should not be penalized because not everyone submitted their entries, that Pr00t jumped the gun and it's not the late contestants' fault, et cetera, et cetera and so on.

Despite all the arguments (and who's right and who's wrong), I'd rather have a solution than spend ten years arguing over what to do. It's more akin to spilled milk than the end of the world.

Can I say that if you think I'm being voted for being "popular" then that is by far the wrong answer. I've been disliked around here since before christmas, so anyone that voted for me would not have known it was me and secondly probably liked what I did, now I hardly think that's unfair?

Psy is the same, he is funny and people like what he does, this Decathlon is about voting for WHAT you like, not WHO you like, people do not know who's entry is who unless the entrant shows their stuff off.

So quit moanin about who's on top and if this is all unfair because it's not, just because you may not be getting the chance to get on top of the list doesn't mean you can punish and critisise those that have the ability to do things to the likings of the community.
