Having just watched this movie again for the 3rd time, I can now say this is one of the greatest movies I have ever seen. Everything about this movie is beautiful, I'm really looking forward to future films from Micheal Gondry. I thought everyone in this movie did a fantastic job, especially Jim Carrey. He was completely robbed of an Oscar, no question about it. Hell he should have at least been nominated. This shows he definetly CAN act, and in fact does it very very well. Kate Winslet was also robbed, for about the 300th time in her career (seriousy no Oscar yet?!) :mad2:

I guess after going through my first breakup, this film really connected with me in a way only matched by Lost in Translation and Donnie Darko. I also can relate a lot to Joel, him being the quiet, nice, and lonely guy. Just the whole trueness of everything I guess is what drew me to this. The relationship seemed real, and frankly ended real, with a sense of uncertainty for the future of Joel and Clementine. Charlie Kauffman has a real ear for true dialouge.

So what are your opinions on the movie?

This genre of movies doesn't get Oscars. They all did a good job acting, but it's not an Oscar flick.

Great movie though. I love it and I love the soundtrack.

I think this was a brilliant film after watching it, it's not very often Jim Carey shows his passionate and warm side. It's mostly comedies he does. Here he plays a successful fragile part and shows that he has more than comedy to him. I pure love this film, it is brilliant and original.

It's not the first time Jim Carrey's been screwed out of an Oscar nomination, and it won't be the last.

But yes, it is a badass movie. I like it a lot. I watched it around the same time as Steve Zissou and I Heart Huckabees. Yeah.

It was up for a few Oscar nods if I remember correctly, and it just slipped by getting a Best Picture nod that year. It's pretty much a beloved movie, with fans as well as critics.

But yeah, Eternal Sunshine is one of my favorite movies ever. I don't know a single person who doesn't like this movie.

Well Kate Winslet was nominated for Best Actress and it won for Best Original Screenplay. Still though I think Jim deserved to be nominated. And yes, it has an awesome soundtrack (though my favorite is still Lost in Translation's)

Reeally? Shows what I know. I don't watch the Oscars anyway. Obviously.

Definitely one of Jim Carrey's best performances. I saw this a long time ago, but I can still remember every detail. Great movie.

Definitely a good movie. I somehow keep thinking of The Butterfly Effect every time I read it's title though, and I don't know why. It's really annoying!

Liked it. Reminded me of Vinnella Sky, but not as good.

Yeah, I adore this movie. I think there's a lot of truth to it, just the way things work. And normally I'm pretty ambivalent towards Kirsten Dunst, but I think she did very well in this movie. I thought it was interesting how the removal of her memory seemed to change her character. We get hints that she is very much straight laced while she's in the office, and very much straight laced around Doctor Guy/her former lover, but she changes when she's with nerdy guy. I think it illustrates the idea of changing who we are in order to move on from a relationship very well.

Why do people keep saying that, it WAS nominated for some Oscars and was a serious contender for Best Picture.
