Need help getting FFVII to run on XP

Hey everyone, Im new here. Not new to the game though, I bought it the first week it came out on Playstation. I just picked up the PC version to enjoy while sitting at the computer, but I cant get it to work.

I installed the game using the first CD, it never asked for any of the other 3 CD's. When I double click on the desktop shortcut I get an error message.

"Insert Game Disk: Please insert FF7 game disk 1, 2, or 3 and try again"

The cd is already in the CD-ROM.

Im running Windows x64, is there a compatability problem?

Ok, I found out that Disk 1 is only the install disk, and you use disk 2 to play the game.

But now when it gets to the "New game" and "continue" options it freezes up.
