Sure, good tool to have and use.

It hurts when you whack the wrong thing, such as your fingers or thumbs for instance. Share your painful experiences and laugh at other people's pain. Just remember it hurts when you do it but when someone else does it, it is funny.

A few years back I was hammering a cross into the ground, it was a stone hammer on a thick wooden stick, quite heavy and i slammed my left index finger, it hurt like hell and I bruised the nail badly, eventually it fell off which hurt more, since then I haven't used that hammer.

More memories unearthed through eoff chat. So what have you hammered that was painful?

This aint spam, it's true. Mallets anyone?

I might have hammered my fingers a couple of times while helping build my uncle's house several years ago. Generally I'm too cautious to miss very hard.

I did have a toenail fall off once, but that was because an empty water jug fell on it.

Dear Jeebus! I lightly tapped my finger with a hammer once when I was like 12, but since I'm a sissy and all pain is multiplied by 10 it hurt like hell >_<. Ever since I've suffered from hammerphobia, and I act like it burns my skin when I touch one. Hammers are the product of succubuses aargh.

Evil>>> :smash:

Edit: It's a hammer and not a mallet because Lunar sayz so

Being me, it's easy to miss the target and hit the finger. It's just me, clutzy. It hurt like hell though and the nail didn't fal off til 2 months later.

Mallets?

I've got a scare on my forehead, from getting wacked in the face with a hammer.
My sister did it, revenge for me cutting up one of her dolls.

One time, I was working on a shed with some friends, and while I was hammering in a nail, I swung the hammer back over my head and the head of the hammer slipped off and went flying backward, hitting my friend in the face!

One time I was doing some work with a hammer, when I dropped it onto a sickle I happened to leave lying around. Now, while you think that this may result in a mere loud bang, it actually ended up creating a whole new political ideology, that your history books may refer to as environmentalism.

when I did resistant materials tech I was always getting hurt but never with a hammer, the ammount of times I sanded my finger tips (I did an entire project using just wood and sanders of different types; belt, disc, paper) near clean off or cut myself on a chisel or saw. Worst cut I ever got was with a hegmasaw (sp) I took it straight across my thumb. the reason for it being the worst was purely cause it ruined my project wood and set me back by 8 hours of sanding and smoothing.

LOL

When I studied Design and Technology I hammered my fingers SO many times I'm surprised they're not permanently damaged / mangled!

I've smashed my thumb in in a few times trying to hit those damn nails. I think I should just stick to biting them.

i've had some minor incidents with hammers, but a memorable one was actually in Canada as a little girl. a fish was slowly dying outside of the tank for some reason, so i put it out of its misery by smashing it with a rubber mallet. of course, i didn't do it deliberately, but i did get in big trouble...
