"Video Capture Card"?

I suppose this would be a 'help' thread, of a sort. Meh. :cat:

Anyway, besides a camera, I've heard of a video capture card (or video capture something or other) that can capture and record the image on a television, in other words, how do I get this device and figure out how to record game videos. :cat:

I've heard of them, I think they require a USB slot but I could be wrong

The ones that replace your normal video card don't though :p Basically instead of just having somewhere to plug the monitor to send signals out, it also has somewhere to plug a TV or other video device to. I think they normally come with software to let you capture, but having not got one of these myself, I'm not sure :p In any case, VirtualDub can capture and encode once you have a video capture device of some sort, and I'm sure there's other free software that can do that too :p
