For me, Grace Jones' Slave to the Rhythm is probably the ultimate song. The song is profound, and she really gets it to work. Slave to the Rhythm have perfect balance. For me it's probably The Butterfly Effect's "Take It Away". It's such a simple yet brilliant song, and sounds even better if you take it up a few steps.

The first song that came to mind was Bittersweet Symphony. I wouldn't try to argue that it was one of the best songs ever created, but everything seems to fit extremely well. Other than that, Stairway to Heaven and at least a half dozen Beatles songs would qualify.
