^_^! And Kojima says he got an "A-List contract" with Hollywood, and assures everybody Uwe Boll won't be involved at all. Thank Ganasha.

Please let this be the beginning of explosively huge, awesome video game adaptions that makes Hollywood realize crappy adaptions can't cut it anymore. Some OK ones have come in the past, and some good adaptions are in the mix, but it's never exploded before, as in comic-book movies are all the rage with 400 billion dollar budgets n' such. Let it all begin >_>;

I think to do this series the correct way it would need to be about 2.5 hours long. The story is great because of the characters and how they interact with each other as well as their back stories. Then you have to have some action in there for a game that is "Tactical Espionage ACTION".

The one thing I would not want is anyone that is not at the scene really involved in the story. AKA. I don't want them to go to the joint chiefs of staff to talk about what they are going to do about this problem. I want them to jump right into the middle of what is going on instead of showing events leading up to the terrorist threat.

Yeah if this is just another hour and a half deal I'm gonna be pretty angry. No time for development...No codec conversations will cut a lot of the good character chatter too... unless they work them in I guess.

I would prefer an all CG movie to a real one, since I just think that works better for video game adaptions in general... But what can ya do.

As long as it actually follows the plotline and doesn't try to do its own thing. I'll expect a lot to get cut, because it has to, so it will probably only focus on the major plot points. And that's fine, movies are a different type of media. But they will most likely try and pull off Snake, Campbell, Otacon, Naomi, Gray Fox, Liquid , and his relationship with Meryl and it will all seem a little fast crunched into cinema time. They'll probably just cut the rest of the villains out >_> At least leave in Psycho Mantis, he's too awesome to be on the cutting room floor.

I just hope Kojima is serious about making a serious movie... He's held off for this long, so I'm sure he has something groovy going.

I don't want them to go to the joint chiefs of staff to talk about what they are going to do about this problem. I want them to jump right into the middle of what is going on instead of showing events leading up to the terrorist threat. That'd be a great way to go - hopefully they'll take an original, non-formulaic approach to this one. There's a real shortage of movies that actually deal with tactical espionage (as opposed to hail-of-bullets gunfights), so it'll be good if that element survives the adaptation process. It'll also be a plus if the game's potent anti-war messages make it through without having to be spelled out like propaganda statements... there's a lot of depth to those stories, so hopefully they can do them justice.

I'll be despondent if there's no Tactical Cardboard Box Action.

Casting's gonna be interesting... David Hayter looks a little like Snake, so maybe they'll choose him to preserve voice continuity for Western viewers. It'll also be intriguing to see where they go with the story's antagonists - Snake versus Foxhound, or some other random assortment of terrorists? As long as it's not Teh Evil Ay-rabs, I'll be happy. Still, the original MGS had the best assortment of villains - each one had a good back-story that was relevant to their involvement in the present plot, and most were integral to the action in some way - especially Mantis, whose depth and motives and meanings are quite beyond what you usually get in any game or movie.

Edit:
No codec conversations will cut a lot of the good character chatter too... unless they work them in I guess.I reckon it'd rock if they did just that. Show the whole story from Snake's perspective only, so his sole contact with the outside world is covered in Codec voice-overs and images. It'd really emphasise the isolated, desperate nature of his situation, rather than having entire scenes set in the AWACS or ground base that's giving him support.

L...M...A...O.

You brought up a good point about the message... There really, truly is a very good and powerful message in there, and I really do hope it comes across in the film.

And Snake better fight an actual Metal Gear...and it better not make the audience laugh with its crappy effects ^_^

And please don't Matrix-Slo-Down every scene -_-.

Who exactly am I wishing to anyway, it's not like Kojima's reading this.

I'm pretty sure it's Gans and Avary again, the director and the writer that adapted Silent Hill. I had heard previously that they had been propositioned to do another Konami series, I assumed it would be Metal Gear.

Well, Gans couldn't possibly do a worse job than Kitamura.

plze dont let it b in jappaneseExtremely unlikely, since it'll be a Hollywood production and thus have a Western cast. Hiring English-speaking actors to play caucasian characters, then having them speak in Japanese would make no sense whatsoever; besides, most of the game's fans live outside Japan.

Interesting news. Is this to be an original story or a summary of the games?
