Ok im in a bit of a rpg rut now. Ive beaten FF 1-11, except for 3 and 11, and i have 5 months to wait until FF 12 is out. And ive also beaten FF Tactics, Vagrant Story, and the Chrono games.

So what are some good rpgs for the PS/PS2?

Heres what i like and dislike:

1. Dislike anime style.
2. Like medeival setting better than futuristic but ill play either.
3. Hate action/strategy rpgs. I like the traditional turn based, etc.
4. Dislike 'kiddie' style and story like Kingdom Hearts.

Any comments or help would be appreciated.

Xenosaga is a good rpg except it is futuristic.

The Shin Megami Tensei games are really good, and they're definitely not 'kiddie'.

Suikoden!

Best RPG series ever. Except for IV. The rest were amazing though.

Valkyrie Profile, if you can get it. Wasn't there a Grandia game for PS1 too? Legend of Dragoon is a good turn-based mideival game, although it's really super linear. Dragon Quest VII, if you can obtain that as well. That's all I can think of that fit your criteria anyway.

I like Shadow Hearts 1, but you can skip it and go to 2 since people think 1 is "rare" now and will want too much money for it.

So Shadow Hearts 2 ^_^ It's not futuristic, but it's not medieval either... So I dunno if it will make you do the happy-dance or whatnot. Most of it is really funny, but there's a good emotional backbone in there too. And the battle system is fun stuff.
