Yes but really it depends on your gaming preferances.
Do you play online?
Do you like to have somewhat of a jump on what the next gen will be?
And most importantly what graduation is this?
If you answered yes to the first 2 questions yes.

Yes, it is, if you have any sense. There are plenty of good games coming out for the 360 this year, and even more next year/with an unsure ship date.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is phenomenal, Burnout Revenge is great, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter is good, too.

As for upcoming games, keep in mind: Mass Effect from Bioware, Too Human from Silicon Knights, Gears of War from Epic, Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey from Mistwalker (headed by Final Fantasy creator Sakaguchi), Huxley, Ninety-Nine Nights, and Halo 3.

After seeing what Sony and Nintendo have in store for this next generation of consoles, I'm kind of glad I got a 360. I just want something that's fun and has killer online support. I've had a 360 and Live for a little over a month now and I'm totally digging it. Oblivion is awesome. Buy this one game for the summer and you'll still be playing it once school starts in the Fall. There are a lot of what appear to be good games coming out before '07 and even better ones coming out IN '07.

If i were you i would wait until the Wii and PS3 are release.
Microsoft might lower the price of its 360 in an attempt to 1up its competitors. :mog:

Get a PlayStation3 instead. Or even better, get a Wii(cheaper and BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTER games)

Get one if you want, I wouldnt, but thats only because I cant afford 2 consoles and I need to save up for the PS3.

Don't think about the system itself, but which games you are interested in playing. Then get the system that plays those games. For example, I bought my xbox a few years ago because I wanted to play Morrowind, and bought the PS2 only because I really wanted to play GTA Vice City.

Well to be honest, if you arent that hardcore about online gaming, i would wait for the other two, the main draw and power i feel that the Xbox has is mostly online gaming, and to a lesser extent, hardcore American games. If those arent for you, then i sugguest either waiting for PS3, or the Wii and see if those appeal to you.

Although i must say i wouldnt buy one....you cant play most of the old Xbox games like Guilty Gear XX or Capcom vs SNK 2(which i wanted to play online), so that was already a no-buy for me.

Wtf is an Xbox 340? Lol

I'd wait, if you do you'll have more money to spend and more beer to get for your gaming marathons with your new console. All 3 consoles have good upcoming games, get either one, PS3 for FF, DMC and Tekken, Wii for Mario, XB for Oblivion.

If Mistwalker's games come out in North-America, then the XBox 360 will certainly be worth it.

Get one for Dead or Alive 4. It's Virtua Fighter only with shapely well oiled lesbians.

No, XBOX is evil, why do they even call it that, it's not shaped like a circle?

You know, I think it's just a fad to hate the XBox. Alot of people say they hate the console but don't say why.

I am pretty sure you are correct Holmes.

People hate it because it's popular to hate big, monopolistic, capitalistic companies like Microsoft (by that logic, you should also hate Sony, by the way). I just don't care about it because it does not play the games I want. That might change though.

I hate it cause the games tend to suck. They had a couple good ones on XBOX, though I'll admit 360 looks like it might have some good stuff like Gears of War. However I'd pick it put and get Conker Live and Reloaded right off before any 360 game.

I don't know where YOU'RE reading.

my reason:

XBOX games are "wack!" 90% of them at least.

Ya Boy Alex

Name the 90% that suck. And for that matter name the 10% that are good.

That's YOUR reason, yes, but not a valid reason to say that Xbox "sucks".

Ya Boy Alex

I also doubt that he has played 100% percent of Xbox games. So to calll 90% percent wack would mean he has played all of them.

When you learn not to contradict yourself or try weird stuff on me then ask again, 'till then.

I said XBOX is "wack" which means the same as "sucks" but I don't like people changing my words, thank you.

I'm not trying to be a god, my friend. I just replied to one guy here who said "people who say XBOX suck don't give reasons why" well I gave MY reasons why, which are of course opinions, but still reasons:choc2: :choc2: :choc2: :choc2: :choc2:

How in any way did I contradict myself. True it wasn't worded very elequently but still since you claim that 90% suck what are those games. And if apparently 90% suck what are the 10% that apparently don't.

FOR Me? Halo and DOA, don't know if that equals 10%, but you can do the math.

Ya Boy Alex

Well with over thousands I believe Xbox games having been made I doubt two titles equal 10%. I also doubt you have played all Xbox games. So claiming that 90% suck is a fallacy.

Not really, now if you gave me 1 billion $ then I'd buy all xbox games, but for now, I'll just used my theory based on my gaming knowlodge and what I've SEEN on xbox.

I didn't claim it was a FACT, so it's not fallacy. I just gave reasons why I don't like xbox, nothing attracts me to it.

is the xbox 360 backwards compatible with regular xbox games?
Many of them:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Xbox_games_compatible_with_Xbox_360

From what I've heard, backward compatibility requires the harddrive attachment in most cases due to the emulation software.

Yamaneko
05-15-2006, 05:31 PM
You need the HDD and an Internet connection to Live in order to download the emulator. It's also possible to download the current set of emulators to your PC and burn them to a CD and have the Xbox update itself off the CD.

why do they all it 3670 it's not shaped like a circle!?

Xalibar
05-16-2006, 05:17 PM
Why would you need an emulator when you have the regular xbox game on disc?

Also, do you need a memory unit to save games on the 360 even thought its just the regular edition(the cheaper one)?

Samuraid

The Xbox and Xbox 360 use entirely different CPU architectures (x86 and PowerPC, respectively). It would be physically impossible for the Xbox 360 CPU to execute a binary instruction from an Xbox game (and vice versa). In addition, the peripheral hardware is entirely different as well.

I hate it for its lack of games I want to play.

and that it has admitable overhype-ness.
