*sigh* Just as I was getting used to the names, too.

http://plusd.itmedia.co.jp/games/articles/0605/11/news021.html

Now, they are apparently: Luneth, Arc, Refia, and Ingus.

They're now closer to the Japanese, and I guess I prefer Arc over Arkus, but I liked Lephia and ESPCIALLY Freyg better. "Ingus" Just sounds stupid to me.

The game has not even been fully completed for the Japanese release, let alone been given an official English translation. The names are prone to change to different romanizations and English normalisations many times before we see what they actually end up being officially translated as. I wouldn't put money on these names, either.

The names like Freyg and Arkus make the names sound non japanese and uncommon, kinda norse in a way. Even if the ruin the names with "Ingus" and "Arc" im sticking with the names I know (Unless they DONT let you name all four yourself }=0)

Are you suggesting that "Ingus" and "Arc" sound more Japanese than "Freyg" and "Arkus"?

Well, there the typical kind of names that I see in Japanese games. Freyg, Arkus, Luneth, there all very different names that you usually see from Square (At least from what Ive noticed)

Names often get changed to names more suitable for american and europen markets as well

ALL of those names are impossible to pronounce properly in Japanese.

Luneth would be Runesu
Arkus would be Arukusu
Ingus would be Ingasu
Refia would be Refuiia (or possibly Refuiya)

Besides that, none of them sound remotely Japanese in origin.

I like it better when it's like Final Fantasy I and you can name your characters with no defaults.

Holy crap, I named my guys the same way. Except the last one I would call either Orange, or Pink. I never could figure out what colour it was supposed to be.

I think it was purple or pink. If you press select 3 times you should see his true colors.

Likewise, I never really liked defaults, I just name my characters after my friends (unless their names dont fit like in FFI)

Golly, I tried it and he's right. Nameless hero number 4 is magenta.
