Albums that are in story form, basically.

My Favorite conceptual album would have to be "The crimson Idol" By W.A.S.P.

What be yours?:)

Pain of Salvation - The Perfect Element, Part One

It is honestly one of the two best albums ever released.

Albums don't have to be in "story form" to be conceptual.

Anyway: (in random order)
Janus - Schlafende Hunde
Orphaned Land - Mabool
Edge of Sanity - Crimson
Edge of Sanity - Crimson II
Angizia - Das Schachbrett des Trommelbuben Zacharias
Angizia - 39 Jahre für den Leierkastenmann
Angizia - Ein Toter fährt gern Ringelspiel
Samsas Traum - a.Ura und das schnecken.Haus
Atrocity - Atlantis (kind of)
Samsas Traum - Oh Luna mein
Haggard - Awaking the Centuries (also "kind of")

And what Crushed Hope said.
I'd also like to add Pain of Salvation's "Be".

1. Genesis- The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. A very confusing, disturbing and mysterious story drives what is - in my opinion - Genesis' best album. Part of what makes it so excellent is how, upon starting to understand the story, you want to discover what the hidden moral meaning behind it is. As many have said before me, perhaps there is no definite meaning, and it must be left up to individual interperation.
2. Pink Floyd - The Wall. Bitter social commentary that may seem rather disjointed at first, and also straying far from the usual Floyd album, but nevertheless a masterpeice.

The Rasmus - Dead Letters

Each song is a letter being sent to someone, or at least according to what I read somewhere. Something a long the lines of letters to different people

Definetly Pink Floyd's Wall album as it is my fave all time album anyway. When PF do a concept album they do it amazingly ie DSOTM, WYWH, Animals. Also Iron Maiden's Seventh Son and Killers Albums are very good concept albums :choc:

How was that a conceptual album?

Grace Jones - Slave to the Rhythm. That album is actually one big song cut in 8 different pieces. The entire album is audiobiographical, and it's segmented in different periods of Grace's life. Mixed with interview cuts inbetween songs. Great concept album. :)

Yes, they are the masters of conceptual albums. Actually when you think about it almost every Floyd album is in some way conceptual. There is always a theme driving the album, and not only do the songs in each album directly flow into each other, they always follow a similar mold that is unique to that album. So technically I could just say that all Floyd albums have a concept and therefore are all my favourite conceptual albums, but since the Wall was the most conceptual I only listed that one.

There's conceptual and then there's conceptual. Albums like WYWH and Animals have certain pervasive themes throughout, but lack cohesion that an album like The Wall has. My favorite Concept album is The Wall. Although I do like The Lamb, it's rather weak in certain parts, and most people don't have a clue what Peter Gabriel was talking about.

Hounds of Love by Kate Bush. Only the second (longer) side is conceptual, though. It's about someone lost at sea.

Pink Floyd - 'The Wall', 'DarkSide of the Moon', 'Wish You Were Here' and 'Animals'. I think 'Division Bell' is counted as a concept album too so if thats the case then definatly that too :D

Dio - Magica, he put alot of imagination and ideas into the album and summarized it all in a 15 minute audio book like story told by himself, and some pretty nifty background music effects. I like it when amazing albums are made but the band was drunk beyond imagination, it sucks when they all sober up and make it non out rageous but that is off topic......
