I love 80's music. My favourite act from that period is Grace Jones. I thought I'd mention it. Just in case you hadn't noticed. :p

Most of it was really bad, but the good tunes were awesome. Cars is a personal favourite of mine.

Nah, it wasn't really all that bad. There were some great musicians such as: Prince, Michael Jackson, Berlin (I'M ON A MISSIIIIIIIION!), Duran Duran and many more.

and eurythmics!!
I actually prefer Annie Lennox' solo work, but they were not bad. My favourite Eurythmics songs are: "I Need a Man" and "Sisters Are Doin' It For Themselves."

Of course, the 80s had the best music IMO. Frankie Goes to Hollywood, the Eurythmics, Blondie, WHAM!, Genesis, Faith No More, classics!

I have mixed feelings about "Frankie Goes to Hollywood." Didn't they make one album only (Welcome to Pleasuredome), and then became huge stars? What a strange album. :moomba:

80s was a good decade for music. Birth of Madge and Michael Jackson. Also a good decade for British music such as the likes of Blondie, Madness, Dexy's Midnight Runners

I cant really recall. I have Pleasure Dome, but my mum (grr) had a few records of theirs, they may have been singles. I adore "Relax" so much, I got into trouble at primary school for singing it! My Catholic teacher wasnt impressed at all!
What about alternative bands like Sonic Youth, Pixies & Throwing Muses?
Without these 80's bands, today's music scene would be VERY different.
80's were great, but IMO the 90's were better.

God I fucking hate 80s music. My least favourite decade for music by far. Blegh. I just can't stand any of the new wave, or electronicy, or just bad stuff that it produced. I don't like a lot of the instruments present in many of the bands at the time. Rubs me in all the wrong ways.
90s and onwards, please.

Those were about the only good things coming out of the 80s. Overall the music was pretty bad.

Thank you. I agree completely. There are a few exceptions for me, but usually when I hear 80's music I drown in cheesyness.

I grew up on 80's music, and I adore it. Bryan Adams, Queen, Michael Jackson (back when he was cool), Prince, The Police, U2, REM, John Cougar Mellencamp, David Bowie, Billy Joel, Talking Heads, Beastie Boys, Don Henley, Peter Gabriel, Def Leppard, The Cure, Elton John, KISS, Scorpions, Tina Turner, Bruce Springsteen, Roxette, INXS, Simple Minds, AC/DC, Blondie, Eric Clapton, Ray Parker Jr. (GHOSTBUSTERS! :D), Kenny Loggins, The Eurythmics, Split Enz, Van Halen, Bon Jovi, Cold Chisel, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Tears For Fears, Bruce Hornsby, Richard Marx, UB40, The Beach Boys, Men at Work, Survivor, J. Geils Band... what's not to like?
Duran Duran and the like were terrible, but to dismiss the 80's because of its cheesy pop music would be foolish (and because by that logic, the 90's would be much, much worse). It wasn't a good decade for rock music, besides a few great bands like The Pixies and REM, but the awesome rap and new wave music made up for it. :D

Genesis. Not so much the latter Phil Collins-era stuff ie. 1986 " Invisible Touch " - too pop-oriented, but previous albums.
